Considering that he’s a felon, I’m very surprised he didn’t lawyer up immediately when they started looking at him as a suspect. There’s really nothing he can say that will help himself.

That said, obviously I hope he keeps talking and comes clean. Bring that beautiful baby home alive and attempt to try to make this right as best you can at this point

New Information in Ansonia missing baby investigation

ANSONIA - Three weeks (Nov. 29) was the last time anyone saw Ansonia one year-old Vanessa Morales. And, while there was no media briefing conducted by the Ansonia Police Friday, new information has surfaced.

Ansonia Police will not discuss particulars about this investigation, but law enforcement sources, outside of Ansonia, confirmed to FOX61 that bloody clothing, connected to the two-pronged investigation, into the babies disappearance and her mother’s murder, is being tested at the state lab.

The sources also say the prime suspect in both cases, Jose Morales, who’s baby Vanessa’s father, had his car seized and it too is being examined at the state lab.

In a Thursday afternoon press conference, Ansonia Police asked the public to be on the lookout for following three specific items associated with missing baby Vanessa Morales.

• A bright, multi-colored polka dot blanket
• A Graco car seat with base and (possibly) a teething key ring attached
• A gray Eddie Bauer First Adventure backpack diaper bag

They say if you come across any of these items please do not touch them and call Ansonia Police immediately.

The $10,000 reward offered by the FBI yesterday generated fresh leads Friday for both Ansonia and the FBI, according to Ansonia Police.

This week, police named Vanessa’s father, Jose Morales, the main suspect in both her disappearance and in the death of her mother. At the most recent police press conference this week, officers asked people to look out for Vanessa’s polka dot child comforter, grey backpack that’s used as a diaper bag, and a car seat that was taken from Christine Holloway’s car.

Police told News8 they believe Vanessa is still alive.

“That’s what our driving force is,” said Lt. Patrick Lynch. “When you see something like that that would be used to care for a child, that gives us the impetus that she’s still out there and she’s with someone and we want to bring her home safely.”

Mayor Cassetti has a message for whoever may have Vanessa:

“Please, please it’s Christmas time,” the mayor said. “Please — bring her back.”

We're all watching and looking, those of us local. Yesterday someone spotted a Graco infant car seat outside of a local donation bin, and I happen to know that local PD was notified nearly immediately after it was posted to FB. It wasn't hers, but I am heartened that people are paying attention. Sometimes it's a small clue that solves it.

I'm keeping APD, baby V and her family in my Christmas prayers.

ANSONIA — The discovery of a discarded car seat led police to search the area around BJ’s Wholesale Club in Derby for evidence in the case of missing 1-year-old Vanessa Morales.

Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch confirmed that investigators were dispatched to the site on Division Street Monday then declined further comment “to maintain the integrity of the investigation.”
A shopper saw the car seat and reported it to police; it appeared to look like the Graco car seat police last week urged the public watch for.
