I thought he was from Puerto Rico. Am I way off on that? JMO
No idea. But if he is from Puerto Rico, having someone crossing border to México with the baby and then sending her to Puerto Rico would make way more sense than having someone crossing the border to Canada. If sending her to Puerto Rico was the goal, that is.

It's just my opinion but a few things.

Flying or sailing into PR from Mexico is going from well . . . a foreign country into a US territory.

PR is closer to the coast of Florida.

IF this is what happened, it makes no sense. Directed at whichever perp used their significant geography skills.

Ansonia Police searching area where discarded child seat was found as investigation of missing 1-year-old continues

Posted 4:32 PM, December 25, 2019, by Associated Press

ANSONIA — Connecticut police have been searching for evidence in the case of missing 1-year-old Vanessa Morales.

Hearst Connecticut Media reports they’re focusing on the area where a discarded child’s car seat was recently found.

Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch confirmed to Hearst Connecticut Media that investigators were sent Monday to a BJ’s Wholesale Club.

That’s where a car seat similar to one police asked the public to look out for.

hoping there is no blood on this car seat - it's an odd place to throw one out. IMO

Maybe someone bought replacements at BJs? I've never been in one, not sure. JMO

And why would he have someone cross the southern border and not the northern one?
Ok, that’s an option as well. After all, they are closer to the northern border. It’s probably easier to get across the southern one though. Many a felon has headed south.

Thank you. Mostly the idea is he got her out of the country somewhere.

I didn't bring it up because it wasn't mentioned in the PC by LE, but from what I can tell, the car seat they are looking for is pretty specific. It seems to be a pattern that was only made in one model that I can find (SnugRide 30 LX in Shine). I also can't find it sold anywhere anymore, so it would be a real freak coincidence to find another one in the same area randomly. I would love to know how long the seat was there or when it appeared.

For those wondering, the BJ's where the car seat was found is 7 minutes drive from CH's home and a 5 minute drive to the donation bins LE searched on Derby Avenue earlier in the investigation.

Thank you - I meant to work in a map today and didn’t get to it

Here you go. Grey dot is CH's, A is BJ's, B is the donation bins.

Thanks -I put it in the media thread
Thanks! I just realized there is a mistake in my labels though now that I viewed it on my PC. Grey dot is CH, A is BJ's, B is donation bins.

Something I've been thinking about for a while, but haven't mentioned: Derby Avenue (the road LE requested footage of for miles, and the road the donation bins are located on) runs parallel to a river. There is a trail along the river as well. It's apparently a popular trail, although I don't know what the foot traffic looks like specifically in each section at any given time of day.

I've been worried since the beginning that VM may have been dropped into the river, but there was nothing to push me more towards that happening other than the convenience of the location and the fact that it would have been less "violent" than other options. The donation bins are obviously also right across from the river, but there was nothing tying VM to the river.

The car seat being found near BJ's, however, ties VM to the area (assuming it IS her car seat that was found). Just a thought I've had for a while that I hope is wrong. I attached a satellite view of the area.

I doubt JM had connections to anyone who would take the child. Somehow I think he rid himself of her, although I wish I didn't think that. I also wish we knew more from people who knew him - even casually. What was this guy like? Someone must have an opinion of him.

OM Gosh. That is close to the river. Has LE been searching there?

He would not make it past the gate into Canada.

If a minor child is travelling [into Canada] with one parent only
The parent should present:

the child’s passport
a copy of the child’s birth certificate, and
a letter of authorization, in English or French if possible, which is signed by the parent who is not travelling with them and lists:
the address and telephone number of the parent who is not travelling, and
a photocopy of that parent’s signed passport or national identity card.
