What are your thoughts on baby V and the likelihood that she is still alive? I always like hearing your perspective on cases. As we know, the longer the time is that passes, the worse things tend to look...

This is a weird one. In a standard domestic murder, you’d expect the child to be unharmed, as the grievance is between the parents, and has nothing to do with the child.

She’s also too young to pose any sort of danger to him (telling people what happened).

My fear, is that he didn’t know what to do (assuming daddy is responsible). He couldn’t leave the baby unattended for (potentially days), and giving the baby to someone else would be incriminating.

If that’s what happened, I would have expected this person to have come forward by now, or law enforcement to have figured it out on their own.

So I’m feeling less than confident that she is alive and well.

Derby police, according to a screen shot posted in a Derby Facebook moms group, put out a request Thursday asking for Ring video from any Ring recording devices in the area of Derby Avenue from Division Street in Ansonia to New Haven Avenue to the Orange town line.

Note: I looked for an official bulletin from either Derby, CT or Ansonia, PD on this request and haven't found anything.

Here is a rough map of this 13.2 mile path based on the details provided above:

I'm fairly certain the highlighted route here is what they requested. I added a red dot to represent where the donation bins are.

I'm still thinking this murder happened friday (after she was with the family member who confirmed the last sighting) and that the "man" who was seen with the baby (link upthread) on Saturday is involved. If she made it to Saturday my hope is she has been passed off and is being cared for but.... the searching in the woods is bothersome...

Police, FBI investigating possible break in missing 1-year-old case as family continues search

ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) — Police and the FBI are still searching for 1-year-old Vanessa Morales from Ansonia. Her family and police plan to take to the streets on Friday.

The family of Vanessa Morales telling News 8 they plan to hand out fliers around town on Friday. This, after tips brought police to the streets of three other towns, but so far no luck finding the one year old girl.

Police confirmed on Thursday Vanessa’s mother, 43-year-old Christine Holloway, was found dead of blunt force trauma in her home in Ansonia Monday.

The Amber Alert went out Wednesday for Vanessa. Police got a tip about a child matching her description in Stratford. It turned out not to be her.

Then they got a tip about something suspicious found in a donation bin in Derby. That brought police to Derby and to the Kiducation donation headquarters in Hamden.

So far, they are not saying what was found there. The main thing for police and the family is, Vanessa is still missing.

“The longer this goes the more concerning it gets. This is a 1-year-old child totally dependent on someone else for their well being,” Lt. Patrick Lynch.

“We’re all going through a struggle with this thought that we have a 1-year-old out there an no one knows where she is,” Josh Morales, Vanessa Morales’s Cousin.

In an unrelated event, Vanessa’s father Jose Morales was arrested by New Haven Police for allegedly possessing a taser. He is a convicted felon, so he is not legally allowed to have a weapon like that.

Despite the arrest, police say he is cooperating fully with the investigation into his daughter’s disappearance and the death of Christine Holloway. Police do not consider him a suspect.

Please excuse the CRUDE map I made. The street all the way to the South where the lines end is Main Street, which eventually turns into Derby Avenue (where the Kiducation bins/police dogs are). The fact that they are completely ignoring the alternate routes between Myrtle and Main is a little odd to me.

First, thank you for doing this map.
Second, the reason for ignoring alternative routes suggests to me they have video, gps, or a bus route the has them very specifically asking for it.
They may already have video from a more common route and need residential video to confirm and tie up a loose end.
No doubt in my mind they are very on top of this.

Only asking for surveillance until the Orange town line is a little odd, but my guess would be that after that point, there are multiple ways someone could've headed to New Haven. Even if they were to take the closest highway (Merritt Parkway), they could've gone North to head into the Westville area of New Haven, continued North to go to Hamden, or gone South to backtrack a few exits to I-95 North. They also could've gotten onto the Merritt two different ways. One would keep them on 34 for a few miles, one would have them turn off 34 right after the Orange town line for a few miles.

It seems LE is fairly confident of the route they took from CH's house until this point.

State Police Search for Missing Ansonia Baby in Derby

Connecticut State Police were searching in Derby for the missing 1-year-old from Ansonia who is the center of an Amber Alert on Friday afternoon.

State police K9s were seen searching in the woods near St. Michael's Parish, according to an NBC Connecticut crew at the scene.

Troopers were in Derby assisting Ansonia with their investigation, according to State Police.

One-year-old Vanessa Morales was reported missing on Monday night after her mom was found dead in their Ansonia home.
