Ansonia community gathers at vigil for 1-year-old Vanessa Morales
Quotes from above article:
"On Friday, investigators combed through surveillance footage, hoping to find cars that might have driven the route from the Myrtle Avenue home, through downtown Ansonia and up to Route 34".
Saturday night, roughly 100 community members were among friends and family of Holloway and Vanessa at Veterans’ Memorial Park for an evening of prayer, singing and well wishes.
“I just want to thank every single one of you for bringing your faith and helping us to ... make sure that this family does not feel alone, and to also support law enforcement,” searching for Vanessa, Midgely said.
Midgely’s son, Jack, read his own prayer that he wrote specifically for the first responders and law enforcement involved in the search for answers in Vanessa and her mother’s investigation.
“With everything on their shoulders every single day (let) them realize that their faith is what will get them through it,” he said.
Jack also praised the community members who left the warmth of their homes to brave the cold to hope and pray that Vanessa is returned safe to her family.
Cassetti told the group how appreciative he was that the community has come together “in search for this young little angel, Vanessa.”
Joshua Morales, a cousin of Vanessa who
handed out flyers to the general public Friday, brought a massive pile of flyers and handed them out among the vigil attendees.
An Ansonia emergency medical services personnel asked Morales for extra flyers to hang up.
Morales said he was incredibly grateful for Saturday night’s turnout.
“I’m happy and amazed,” he said. “I’m speechless so many people came out.”
Police did not have any significant updates to share on the investigation Saturday.
“We continue to investigate leads and do follow ups and would like to thank the community for all their support in our efforts to bring baby Vanessa home to her family,” said Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch on Saturday.
Lynch has provided
daily updates on the case, which started for Ansonia police with a call for a welfare check at 6 1/2 Myrtle Ave. on Monday at 12:56 p.m. for a woman who didn’t show up to work or call in sick. Officers responded and didn’t get an answer at the door.
