Wonder what led LE to expand the search. Again, no news.
I think it could potentially be related to cell phone data. If you know who is involved, it doesn’t appear that he is being helpful in locating Vanessa. His cell phone location in the hours after the murder, could help law enforcement hone in on where he took her.

Weren't there some relatives living in Naugatauk? I remember it being mentioned early on.

Early on in this thread a neighbor said he met him when JM asked him if he could get him a job and the neighbor said he would send him information. The neighbor, if I remember correctly, worked in food service at the local college.
That struck me because I thought, aha, he’s unemployed and maybe that means something.
I hope my memory is correct about this and not sending on misinformation. If so, apologies to all.
I remember reading that in one of MSM reports.
I will look for it.

Yes, I believe Josh, the cousin of VM's who has been interviewed, lived in Naugatuck.

Is there a scanner thread going on by any chance?

I’m curious about the age too. I can tell you that the 17lbs she is reported at would be extremely small for an almost 2 year old. My littlest one turned one two weeks ago, and at 16.7 lbs she is only in the 6th percentile for weight (a shrimp - albeit a very cute one). I’d be surprised if baby V was close to 2 at that weight...moo.

right, all my boys were 20 lbs by 10 months, 17 at almost 2 is very tiny.

Hospital security is much tighter than it used to be. My local hospital has a security desk just steps away from the door. You cannot just walk in without stating your business.

So I think a busy restaurant might be a better option for someone. JMO

when my son was being treated at Stanford, we had to show ID, state our business and they gave us sticky badges w our pic on it.

We don’t usually open up individual scanner threads for cases, just use the main scanner thread in the basement.

ETA: if anyone needs the link I can post it in just a few minutes. Walking home from the light rail station after work and drivers are not too contentious of pedestrians crossing the street o_O

I wouldn't even know where to start with a scanner on this one since so many different departments are involved, including the FBI, who would likely recommend a private channel. I usually only peruse the ones readily available online.

Ansonia/Derby Police, Fire, and EMS is online with 6 listeners though, so clearly people are hanging out there.

I actually didn't think that job was serious on his FB, Kids put job: sponge bob square pants" lol. He asked her neighbor for work so he must not be doing that well. IMO

i bet that's why she moved out on her own. tired of him not pulling his weight. i bet thy had just argued about his lack of working when he asked the neighbor...

I think all that would depend on birth weight. Body size of parents etc. Also would depend on who furnished this info. The mother was a degreed psychologist, if there were concerns about Vanessa's size, I'm sure she would have addressed it. And, maybe she did, but we just don't know.

I tend to agree, in most high profile cases normal PD channels are not used. I do remember an Amber Alert from a few years ago though where we did hear her recovery over regular Broadcastify. First & only time I’ve ever cried tears of joy on Websleuths.

i definitely wasn't saying there was concerns about her size. i was just thinking she was closer to one than two, in response to a previous poster. 17 lbs on an almost two year old is off the charts small, but if a doc isn't concerned and she is thriving then that's that.

Have there been any MSM reports about the couple's parenting plan or legal visitation schedule? Other than paternal cousin JM's statement about how much VM was missed, I'm curious how bonded baby VM was with her paternal relatives.

Earlier, I really did have hope that this child was alive and LE would soon find her safe with a relative. Somebody posted earlier they believed Jose M was of Puerto Rican heritage and I understand from the linked thesis that the grandmother's role is distinct -- perhaps enough so that she would be willing to hide the child in fear of her placed in temporary foster care.

Sadly, I believe enough time has passed for all known family members checked out and still no Vanessa.

Fearing yet another tragedy..... :(

The posts I have seen were that they were together for at least 3 years. He lived away during the week, but was with them on the weekends. That's why none of this speculation about father makes sense to me. By all accounts he was in their lives. Having said that, that he is involved is a valid conclusion. IJDK

She's 15 months, but I wouldn't be surprised if those measurements were from her 1YO appointment. That would be less than 5th percentile for both weight and height (26").

There really are stock market day traders. Single guy has for years lived on street below us. Nice house. Real day trader.
Oh, I know there are.

But I don't think this guy has the education, experience or financial resources to actually be a day trader. It takes a lot of all of the above to do so.
