Wait wait they’re gone? There are some other interesting comments perhaps different though. Now I’m curious.

Not gone...I just read the comments

I need to rewatch his face. I took it that he had no idea what they were talking about, but he could easily have been deflecting.
I watched it again and I'm not seeing any leads to think there was an arrest regarding this. Not to say I'm wrong but I'm not seeing it. IMO

I don't see any comments that are really anything more than what we already know there now IMO.

Nothing that isn’t clear if you watch/read the notes from the press conference but for those who hadn’t yet (like me) it was informative. Makes sense now why they are not ID’ing without positive fingerprint comparison.

That’s a LOT of rage...personal-cause homicide. If it was simply about taking the baby, there are easier and less personal ways to dispatch of someone. This sounds very personal. I hope baby girl is alive....my sweet little girl just turned one on Friday - she loves mama so much and I can’t imagine how scared she would be if she was without me. My heart breaks for this whole situation.

Gotcha. From the PC, it seemed like more than anything from what he was saying is that they weren't identifying out of respect for the family at this time.

A reporter asked about her being beaten until unrecognizable for the reason why it was taking so long and he wouldn't answer.

Random thought that popped into my head while watching the PC...her fingerprints have to be on file for a reason right? Either crime or maybe from a background check at some point?

Ansonia police give update on homicide, missing girl investigation

Police spent part of the morning interviewing nearby neighbors.

Joe Baldespino, who lives across the street, was one of those questioned. “The lady was quiet,” he said. “I saw the little girl.

“I saw the gentleman two times and once he asked me for work,” added Baldespino, a cook employed by Southern Connecticut State University. “I gave him the website.”

Baldespino said there were several cars near the home on Thanksgiving.

Nicole Pagano, who lives nearby, took a walk to the crime scene with her 11-year-old daughter and 8-year-old niece. “We heard there was a Silver Alert for the little girl online and we’re getting updates,” Pagano said. “We walk this area often and never saw anyone there.”

The two girls said they went to the house on Halloween, but no one answered the door.

The residential street is filled with well-kept multifamily homes and is not far from Santini’s pizza and Castle Beverages.

Dave Pantalone, who co-owns Castle, and Sal Haniaf, a former aldermanic candidate, were unaware of the incident when passing by Tuesday.

“This is the best neighborhood in town,” Pantalone said. “Nothing ever happens here.”

“It’s all families,” Haniaf added. “It’s the best street in Ansonia.”

I’m wondering if the diaper bag is missing. Or clothes that the baby girl would need. Bottles? Just anything that would indicate the child was taken away from the home with essential items. That would give me some hope.

I wonder if there's a person arrested on other charges, like an old outstanding warrant or probation violation. That's a tactic LE often uses so they can hold the person while they're investigating the more serious crime.

So worried about his poor little angel.

I had been thinking that maybe a Mom died, protecting her daughter from someone who wanted the baby to raise as their own,

Now, after reading the answers in the presser, I don’t think that anymore. The mother sounds like she was beaten beyond recognition. That’s personal. Simeon had a vendetta against this woman possibly. But what old they want the child for? To sell on the black market?

I hope they find this little one soon.

Ugh, this case reminds of one in Canada where mom was killed and a four year old was kidnapped them found deceased.
If dad doesn't have the baby, I doubt anyone else will take her and now have to take care of baby. It might have been a surprise to have a baby there. I do wonder if she witnessed anything.
Sorry my thoughts are just jumbled.

Or they went there for the baby. There is so little background info on this, it's hard to pinpoint where to even start looking. As for footprints, she's so little, light weight, this whole thing scares me. IMO

I am not caught up so this may have already been discussed, but from Sunday thru Tuesday of this week, all of CT had a pretty big and slightly unexpected snowstorm, so any prints made on or before December 2nd, definitely would not still be there.

If they were on file, wouldn't they have made the identification by now? I'm thinking they don't have them and are busy trying to lift them from multiple places (perhaps including the car they towed yesterday). The victim wasn't involved in any crimes that show up on the CT court database. Not sure about before she moved to CT.

ETA: I know personally that I've been background checked multiple times for jobs, but I've only been fingerprinted once, and that was when I was going through the motions to student teach before I changed my major.
