South Florida Cuban Americans rally, hope for change in Cuba

South Florida Cuban Americans rally, hope for change in Cuba

" The gathering comes after President Donald Trump suggested to reporters a possible “friendly takeover” of Cuba, saying talks are underway and that the island is facing serious economic trouble."

How long do you think it’ll be before there’s a thread dedicated to the “friendly takeover” of Cuba? MOO JMO

I figured there would be more than one boat involved. Look at all that artillery! I wonder if more were coming? IMO

I think there were people on the island waiting for them, but likely not enough. The Bay of Pigs failed with Brigade 2506, what could 10 people really do against a whole country? MOO JMO

Your right, I didn't even think of that! Brains in shock over #47s actions last night! #47 just needs to say the word and those poor Cubans in Miami will form a boat Brigada and take over Cuba for him! Hopefully he'll let them come back? IMO

I so wish I could talk about Cuba without the conversation instantly becoming political. I’ve lost "friends" over it, even though I genuinely understand both perspectives... But for many you’re either on one side or the other.

If there is such a thing as a “friendly takeover” in politics, let it be one that brings medicines for everyone, invests in the economy, rebuilds infrastructures, restores equality and ensures oil reaches Cuba “para que nunca falte el azúcar.” 🌺 🇨🇺❤️

"President Donald Trump says the United States is talking with Cuba and raised the possibility of a “friendly takeover” of the island without explaining what that means."

"Then, noting the exile community from the island living in the U.S., Trump said there could be something coming that “I think (is) very positive for the people that were expelled, or worse, from Cuba and live here.” He did not elaborate."
And what is to happen to those in Cuba who doesn't like the idea of a "friendly takeover", and Cuba becomes the 51st state of the US? (Unless Greenland becomes the 51st state before Cuba?)

My concern is for those who don’t like the idea, who appear to be the majority, based on all the comments I’ve read so far. I don’t think Cuba will become a U.S. state... At least in the near future. MOO JMO

Cuba files terrorism charges against men involved in Florida boat shootout

Cuba files terrorism charges against men involved in Florida boat shootout

The Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement that the suspects of Cuban origin remain in pretrial detention, adding that it will ensure “due process” as it continues to act “in defense of our people and the country’s institutions.”

Chief prosecutor Edward Robert Campbell has told The Associated Press that terrorism charges carry a possible sentence of up to 30 years in prison or even the death penalty, although Cuba has maintained a moratorium on the latter since 2003.
