I think it's more a matter of keeping it in perspective. Just because DH is on the scene now, does not make DR a total victim. His lack of empathy towards the Werterlings makes it very hard to have any for him now. I don't think he deserves a dime in restitution. If he had cooperated like a decent human being, in the beginning, he may not have found himself to be a POI in the first place.
That being said, I am fine to move on.

Something that I have found very frustrating about this situation is that most of the information that is now available and has been available since this thread began only goes back to 2004 when the investigation was reopened.

Much has been made of statements that DR and others made between 2005 and 2010 but, with the exception of Kevin, everyone gave presumably detailed statements in 1989 to the police. It is those statements that matter in terms of investigative value and "evidence". What was said 15 years later may be the only source of information we have but it doesn't mean much.

Does anyone know what DR told the police when he was interviewed right after the abduction?

It's a matter of keeping it in perspective. Not getting bored and just forgetting about key highlights through this investigation. Alot of people are being tortured emotionally right now by the sudden game LE has decided to play.

It would be interesting to see the transcript of the interview with DR in the principals office the next morning. We know he came home after work that night and told a reporter about 2 cars, but the reporter only released information to the newspapers about the 1 car. So DR did tell investigators about both the monte carlo and the small dark car that morning imo.

No offense, guys, but if you're just going to keep posting over and over again because you just don't like the guy, let's move on. We get it, you don't like DR.

I don't like or dislike DR. I find his being named a POI based on what we know to be tenuous at best. If he was named a POI based on his witnessing a car turning around in his driveway and nothing more...or simply because he's what some would find "odd", it's a travesty.

If's he's not involved, I hope he sues the pants off of them.

I think you have the farm searches confused. There was the original one that night where DR searched. He was considered an upstanding memeber of an amazing family.

The other search with the dogs, etc. was in 2010

I am referring to the original search for the most part, but I honestly think both were botched. The only thing they got right was bringing in the tracking dog and getting at least a few photographs of the vehicle prints. Of course they then disregarded their best evidence.

The last thing LE publicly told me without yet follow up is that certain items are awaiting advancement in technology. For someone without a clue as to where Jacob is, that has to be constantly spinning in your brain. Another thing, I'm the only person who has ever spoken about when DR became a witness, the only witness to vehicles in this case. It's not pretty, the man went to sleep and off to work the next morning when a car with what may be a child in it turned around inside his building site. Thank you to the two investigators who got an idea to go to his work and say "what can you tell us" DR says "well last night before I went to sleep, there was a small dark car and inside their may have been a child." I tell you what guys, I dont like this guy one bit either the outcome.

What advance in technology? LE has an array of CSI technology today that boggles the mind. The only thing I know they are still working on is using a FARO laser scanner on foot and tire prints. What are they waiting for, a satellite that can scan the earth for a particular DNA...even buried?

Years ago in our city they had a computer that took up an entiretwo story building.

My kids had to spend hundreds on graphing calculators for math.

Heart transplants are routine now.

Who can even dream of the advances that are in the works or if a Bill Gates or Steve Jobs type will think of something no one even imagined.

IMO this man's life was pretty much ruined for years. I fail to see how and when he did not "cooperate like a decent human being". That's some A1 victim blaming as far as I'm concerned. Nothing can give him those years of his life back, and it sure looks to me like this was a miscarriage of justice. Plus, he'll get to enjoy all sorts of character assassination even after being cleared for the rest of his life (as evidenced by a whole lot of posts right here in this very thread).

From the limited information I have available, DR's employer, co-workers as well as his network of friends in the community pretty quickly concluded he had nothing to do with the abduction and was a victim of an overly aggressive sheriff's Dept. Others in the community who did not know him well may have retained some suspicions. I cannot gage what impact this has had on his life.

At this point, I suspect county legal counsel will decide if and when DR is cleared. This is no longer part of the "Jacob" investigation, it is part of the damage control process when you expect to have to settle a claim or face a costly lawsuit.

I've really hoped that new lead investigator Bechtold meant something would happen soon. He declared "Lets go get Jacob" and that he hopes to add the final page to the investigation. It's been too long again since that time. Unfortunately I think we all have to sit and wait until heinrich is finished in court to get more. Sad deal.
