There were plenty of people that had all kinds of "facts" re the Wetterlings. There were lots of things said that ELOC, I am sure you heard. They were false, but some people liked to believe these "facts".

Jealousy, the fact that Jerry was head of the NAACP, and that some people had to paint them in a certain way to show this could never happen to them led to "facts" to be investigated.

Yes, glad you bring up this point. When I told the Wetterlings about the book, I explained to them the first chapter was for this very reason, so that readers would conclude that the family had absolutely nothing to do with the abduction.

The reality is, that there are many, many people who are only casually familiar with Jacob's abduction. A lot of those people revert to the notion that one or both parents were involved. Some cite that Jerry is so quiet, some cite other justifications, but the bottom line is...like it or not...there are people out there still who think this way.

People that are more well-versed with the case, obviously understand they had no part in the abduction.

There are some folks who have a hard time accepting this truth, that there are a great many people who tend to blame the family. The reason is simple...It Can't Happen Here. In other words, people want an easy explanation, they don't want to believe there is a bad person out there, that the general public is at risk. They long for a simple, confined answer.

The Wetterling's seems so composed and seem as they have come to some kind of terms with their life. It seems like knowing where Jacob is would be of great relief to them.

It seems one of the avenues of invesitgation that DR was pursuing was trying to tie the
Wetterlings to the abduction.

Are you serious Human?? When was this? Earlier or later on? That is despicable. Another bizarre turn for an innocent man.

Do you want to chime in Papashango? Why would DR have done this?

Come on. You all know we don't allow personal attacks.
Please stop Okay? I really don't want to issue time outs.

Thanks

You're attempting to change the POV from DR to "plenty of people". Where is the hard evidence that DR was pinning the guilt on the Wetterlings?

I'm interested as well, very interested. Human has been with this case much longer than alot of us. Her and a few others remember when DR did an interview saying they don't have any black nylons in the house, but in the background in the bathroom you could see them hanging on the shower rod. I believe that video was pulled from the internet. Probably the same thing with this situation, it's true, but the information was taken down.

You better have some hard, definitive proof of this.

Just figured out what "papa shango" means. Knew I heard it somewhere before.

This investigation is the worst I've ever seen handled in my life. What kind of work is it to publicly name people and then just let it run for 6 years and counting.

Provide the documentation where DR accuses Jerry.

Yes, I do. Not only does everyone in the community know it, but documentation as well.

Papashango - can you help us get inside DR's head? Since you know him personally, I would love to know what his take on this case is. What does he think happened?
Also, can you give any insight as to why DR always comes across so cold in interviews? That has always bothered me. Even if innocent, why doesn't he seem more compassionate towards Jacob and his family?

DR seems to have no idea what happened acccording to the last interview by Esme Murphy in Nov 2015, instead relying on LE to sort it all out. He has now seen heinrichs car but said he doesn't know if thats the one, it would have to turn around again under the same circumstances. He is useless now.

Seems to me an honest statement on his part. As a witness to a vehicle driving through his farmstead in the dark of night in a matter of minutes or less....would be difficult to decipher that...how would a person make heads or tails of that as it relates to the overall case? Having now seen Heinrich's car....DR says to be sure that that is the same car he saw....he would have to see it under similar circumstances.....that's a sensible statement. Heinrich's car in daylight or photos would not be the same color as it appeared that night of 10-22-1989. The moonless night(at least at the time of abduction) as well as the yardlight would have an effect on the appearance of the vehicle. I don't think he's useless....I think he's critical to the case....maybe unfortunately for him. His statements are "out there"....meaning in the public forum....so his statements can be weighed against what scant evidence is available to the public. IMO....his statements ADD critical information to the case-and those statements may or may not be used against him as the case may be. As tragic as this case is, DR is tied to it, rightly or wrongly.

I don't think he's come across cold.
At the time, NOT how everyone thought he should have reacted ( myself included ) & LE going after him the way they did...only made everything appear worse.
Having the benefit of hindsight, he acted like a single man with NO children, living in a time where this just didn't happen. IMO

Personally, to ask to " get into his head " or get his opinion, or anything of the sort is both an insult and a waste.

I say this because he has offered information. He has been hypnotized. He has been harassed.

Just curious as to what good it'll do to once again start in on DR? No matter the approach.

I'm sorry dexter, I wasn't trying to insult anyone - just get more information of any kind.

You're likely right though, until we hear from LE, we are surely running out of things to talk about regarding this case.

Not taken that way at all, Ugh.
Texting😕
I'm sorry.
Insult may have been a poor choice of word. I too, put DR through the ringer a while back and while I have no way of predicting the outcome of this case, I felt terrible as I look at the bigger picture and just can't see where he is guilty of anything but having a melancholy personality and having a terrible crime committed on his property😔

Just be careful to decide this man is clear of committing an atrocious murder. There is definitely something still happening. LE cannot clear him.

I would say it's more like LE "won't" clear him, not that they can't. All that stuff about a gag order, waiting for technology, etc, is just convenience for Stearns County to lean on.

No I don't think they operate that way. If DR were a lifelong criminal it may seem more believable.

The FBI, the BCA, Local LE, and the family and the public are behind this case. The Wetterlings and the Rassiers have pleaded to have DR cleared, their answer is they can't do that. With all of the pressure and agencies involved I can't believe DR's entire life will be a named POI based on "convenience".
