COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Danish police made several arrests Thursday, saying they carried out the operation “on suspicion of preparation for a terrorist attack.”
The arrests were made in “a coordinated action” in several locations in Denmark early Thursday.''

''The terror threat level in Denmark current is at level four, the second highest.

Earlier this month, the European Union’s home affairs commissioner, Ylva Johansson, warned that Europe faces a “huge risk of terrorist attacks” over the Christmas holiday period due to the fallout from the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.''
''Danish intelligence services and the Copenhagen Police made several arrests on Thursday in a coordinated effort against a suspected terrorist attack. Israeli authorities said the suspects had been acting on behalf of Hamas, with the aim of killing civilians on European soil.

"In recent years, and even more so after the murderous attack on October 7, Hamas strives to expand its operational capabilities around the world, and in Europe in particular," Israeli authorities said, "to realize its ambitions to strike Israeli, Jewish, and Western targets at any cost."

The arrests were "carried out in close collaboration with our foreign partners,"

''German authorities say they have made four arrests of suspected Hamas members linked to an alleged plot to attack Jewish sites.

Danish authorities also said they had arrested three people accused of preparing an attack.

It was not clear whether the Danish and German investigations were linked.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said the threat was "as serious as it gets".

German prosecutors said in a statement that three suspects linked to Hamas were arrested in Berlin and one in the Netherlands. Hamas, which runs Gaza, is a banned terrorist group across Europe.

The three held in Berlin were Lebanese and Egyptian, according German prosecutors.''
