DA's objectivity

Tell you what, HOTYH. To show that I'm an easy guy to get along with, we'll play it your way.

Charges range from conspiracy to kidnap and murder, accessory to kidnap and murder, and false imprisonment.

Quotes are admissible as witness testimony if relevant.
Items known to exist are admissible as exhibits if relevant.

I'm good on the charges, but I'm a little leery of that "items known to exist" business.

Obviously we can't make stuff up and call it an exhibit. It has to be widely known or reported to exist or have existed at one time. For example, I read the RN was destroyed. It can be admitted because it is known to have existed.

I wouldn't think of it.

That's all I needed to know.

Did you notice that murder and kidnapping aren't there? Only conspiracy and accessory.

You're the prosecutor, it's your game.

But now that you mention it, I am kind of curious.

I would report for Jury Duty as I have said I live in the same State and know of the case, but I did state that I had no opinion and had no idea as to the evidence ect. that has gone on in this case. I am about 3/4 of the the way through PTPM and still feel as I have formed no opinion as to who did this crime. I still look at both sides objectively.

I put forth my qualifications to you and would love for you guy's to add me to your list of potential jury pool. Actually serious kids, I'm game. I find that all arguments for both scenarios to be valid and possible.

The thought of being your guinea pig gives me the chills (in a good way) :woohoo: I would even allow you guy's to ask background info on me to explore my history, education, lifestyle ect. to see if I would be an acceptable juror. You know what I mean there if you all are serious.

OK with me. Judge or juror?

Its for a 'mock trial of a pseudonym intruder'. Not allowed to use their real name according to the forum rules.

Hope you don't mind if I butt in but I'd suggest getting two fence sitters.

Need a genuine fence-sitter for judge, right SD? We're supposed to instruct jurors to forget everything they know.

I'm game guy's, I can honestly say that it should be pretty darn cool.

And you have my solemn promise that I am your definite fence sitter

I agree. You don't want ANY biased opinions. I would volunteer...but, in reality, I would be kicked out of the jury pool, because I can't just FORGET what I already know, and the opinion that I have already formed. I would be a lousy judge or juror. We definately need fence sitters...all the way around, Judge and Jurors...to make this thing fair.

Right. I think BOESP has it right: I'd prefer to get people who don't know much about the case and hae no real feeling as to who is guilty or not.

Wish I could help.

*Stamps feet in anger at cruel accident of birth and shakes fist at outrageous fate that renders self ineligible to sit on American jury*

That looks like soooo much fun and an incredibly useful exercise BTW.

PS. Who got the 100000th post?

PPS. Loads of brilliant posts since I was last able to post and probably going to spend all evening replying, BUT, just wanted to say that a reason I couldn't post was that an institution dear to my heart was in trouble and I was working with friends to see if we could get help for it. More details when the deal is done but, in the meantime, thank you America: you people are staggering in your warmth and generosity and your respect for old institutions - said institution's Anglo-French owners were going to let something a 1000 years old perish.

In real life, the judge must have the integrity to be impartial but as far as I know a real trial would not require a judge without a preconceived opinion. The judge mostly keeps order in the court and makes decisions on points of law.

Ames I think you'd be excellent as a judge.

I think we'll be lucky to get three mock jurors. One can be RDI, one IDI, and one fence-sitter. I think we've got one RDI in MsBashterd.

Roy23 wants to be IDI juror, fence-sitting juror, or judge?
