Aw man, what a loss. I see a Twin Peaks binge in my future.

So sad. What an interesting and brilliant man he was.

I'm thinking not many knew he gave a daily weather report from his home for a few years. He tried to stop but his fans wouldn't let him. On February 1st, 2021 he replied to his fans that didn't want him to stop:

"I’m so thankful there are people like you in this world. So we’re going to continue on, and, no matter what the weather is, I wish for all of you blue skies and golden sunshine internally, all along the way.”

What a beautiful sentiment. :)

I have not watched any Twin Peaks, but I have them all. Ditto for Mulholland Drive. I did see Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, The Elephant Man and Dune.

Also not sure if anyone has seen his short films over the years. Here is his Short Films Collection from 1967 - 2011. Enjoy!

I have been a fan of his for some time, so sad about the news.

Loved Twin Peaks when it came out, then the movie Fire Walk With Me (ugh, so heavy and crazy subject matter but a story needing to be told), Wild At Heart was wild, Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive of course.

There won't be another like him! Long live Lynch!!

Twin Peaks was so groundbreaking when it came out. I tried re-watching a year or two ago and now it may seem a tad cheesy to some viewers (because it has a soap opera vibe, but dark and twisted strange soap opera to boot! lol)... so if you keep that in mind and push through it's super cool!

Mulholland Drive is unnerving, disturbing, beautiful and heartbreaking. Had to watch a couple times to really understand it, same with most his movies though.

*Edited: major typos in both my posts, typing too fast ha!

I don't mind cheesy if there's a touch of "strange" as you said. lol Twisted, unnerving, and dark works too! That wouldn't surprise folks if they've read my movie recommendations in the horror movie thread. *chuckle*

Twin Peaks (original from the 90s) is super stylized, sexy, quirky, charming, funny, creepy, mysterious, mystical and kind of a mash up of 1950s style/innocence and other wordly darkness. Some great and lovable characters, hope you get a chance to watch it and enjoy!

I tried watching Twin Peaks The Return (I guess technicall season 3) from 2017 and it was a lot to digest. I was confused BUT I want to re-watch and give it another chance. Lynch got more abstract with that one I think haha... but probably worth it when one unfolds and understands it all and that world!

I can't watch horror flicks (well very very few) but can do Lynch. I just close my eyes at the super violent parts though, can't handle it much the older I get. There are some crazy horror movies out there, some gooders I know but I can't watch and am missing out I"m sure.

Horror can mean a lot of different things. Some mistakenly think it's all about gore but it's not. I'm not into gore unless it's not real. In other words.... a made up monster, but NOT real human monsters. I like my horror to have pretend monsters, not real monsters like those that we read about here on this site.

Like... I'm a huge zombie fan. Lots of gore but it's not real.

I think I'll pull out my Lynch collection after I've finished with True Detective (6 hr series that the library just delivered). I'm looking forward to it!

So true! I don't mind zombie stuff even though gory, I find it almost can border on campy!

Oh man, I love the TD series, so good... enjoy that binge!!

Twin Peaks is wonderful. If you're from a small town it'll hit a lil different (imo).

What is a small town to you? In the hundreds? Or as many tens of thousands, which can still be smallish to me. Obvs not a metropolis. lol

That's a good question! Lol. I guess for me anything under 10k but I think it's about the feel of the place I guess. For example, I come from a hometown of about 6k, but it's a place that doesn't feel so painfully rural, and disconnected, as the town I live in currently which has about 10k.

I probably should've said "rural town" instead of "small town".
