David was last seen in Archuleta County, Colorado on May 22, 2005. He was camping with 4 friends in the Blanco Basin area to celebrate graduation. He fell asleep on an embankment above the Rito Blanco River. His friends left individually the next day, and assumed he had left, but he was never heard from again. An extensive search of the area turned up no sign of him. He may have rolled off the embankment and fallen into the river, but that theory has not been confirmed, and it is possible he left the campsite of his own volition.
