Police Investigate A Bomb Threat Near U.S. Capitol

In a tweet, the police says the threat is related to a suspicious vehicle. Several streets in the area have been closed. The FBI says its Washington field office is responding along with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The Library of Congress has evacuated the historic Jefferson Building. Washington's transit agency says subway trains are bypassing the nearby Capitol South station.

Neither the House nor the Senate is in session, and most lawmakers are not in their offices.

US Capitol Police "still working" on bomb threat investigation

What we know so far
  • Police are responding to claims of suspected explosives in a vehicle near the US Capitol, calling it an "active bomb threat investigation."
  • Authorities on the scene continue to negotiate with a man who says he has a bomb in a pickup truck, police say.
  • Two nearby office buildings for the Library of Congress, the US House and the Supreme Court are being evacuated. The House and Senate are not in session today, and most lawmakers are not currently their office.

Bravo to the negotiator(s?) who brought this to a peaceful end

I viewed this radicalized person's livestream. Sickening. Don't have an MSM link, and wouldn't want to spread his hateful message anyway.

No kidding, right?? Yet another job I am glad I don't do.

I am concerned about this "I'm one of five" statement and I hope that's just BS.

What a dangerous fool. Was he drunk or just crazy?

Man with 'tannerite bomb' at Capitol surrenders after five hour standoff | Daily Mail Online

  • Demanded President Biden speak to him
  • Demanded the US make air strikes against the Taliban
  • Said "the revolution is here"
  • Had quite a record - 22 arrests in his past
  • Tossed dollar bills out his window
Or just plain radicalized, but not enough to follow through. We don't default to drunk or crazy for other terrorists, and domestic terrorists should be no different.

There were warnings about an uptick in chatter and potential terrorism in recent days.
Calls for violence online similar to before January 6 Capitol attack, DHS Intel chief says - CNNPolitics

There have been online comments such as "the system is broken," "take action into their own hands" and "bring out the gallows," Cohen said, offering as paraphrases of what has been observed.
...
"It's very similar to the stuff we saw prior to January 6," said Cohen, the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis senior official performing the duties of the under secretary. But the comments have stopped short of specific dates and threats, he noted.
Several swirling conspiracy theories point to a process that will change the results of the election.

Yeah, I read about that the other day. When this news broke this morning, I sadly wasn't surprised. That whole area is on high alert. These fools had better reconsider their threats and stay at home instead, unless they want to end up in federal prison the rest of their lives.

49-year-old Floyd Ray Roseberry..

drove onto the sidewalk outside the Library of Congress, make bomb threats to officers and profess a litany of antigovernment grievances as part of a bizarre episode that he live-streamed for a Facebook audience.

As police continued negotiations, video surfaced of Roseberry on Facebook Live inside the truck, which was stuffed with coins and boxes. He threatened explosions, expressed hostility toward President Joe Biden, profanely warned of a “revolution” and laid bare a series of grievances..

Videos posted to Facebook before the page was taken down appear to show Roseberry at a Nov. 14 Washington rally...one appears to be filmed by Roseberry as he’s marching with a crowd of hundreds of people carrying American flags and Trump flags and shouting “stop the steal.”..

Kelsey Campbell, a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison visiting Washington as part of a class trip, said she and another student encountered Roseberry around 9:20 a.m. outside the nearby Supreme Court building. Campbell said he was with his truck, which was parked next to the sidewalk, and was holding a large stack of dollar bills.

“He said, ‘Hey, call the police, tell them to evacuate this street, and I’ll give you all this money,’” Campbell recounted to The AP. “I said, ’No!’ and he threw the money at us and we started running.”
