We're having another cold spell in VA. I mean COLD! Got a sunburn a few days ago, and today, wrapped up like a burrito. Wherever Relisha is, I hope she's warm, and loved.

I'm sticking with my theory from a few days ago. Relisha was injured, MYT was suppose to help her, couldn't, injury too extreme, perhaps infection set in. Tatum takes her back with him. IMO, LE has video of Relisha and Tatum together on March 1st or they wouldn't say they were together. IMO, LE knows it was after the instagram video.

Tonight, I want someone to ask Shamika when the last time Relisha was at the shelter, and why she missing school before Tatum took her on Feb. 26th. Did Tatum EVER take the boys? Buy things just for them? I don't know if Shamika will know the answers.

Still feeling Shamika wasn't the ring leader here, and very possible she was duped by many people around her. Con artists exist because some people are easily fooled, manipulated, gullible, etc.

Still makes no sense that the men in the family didn't meet Tatum! IMO, Tatum didn't feel he could fool the men as easily as the women. He picked his battles. He picked his victim.

I had a hard time sleeping last night. I knew this was going to happen. I got too worked up and I couldn't fall asleep. Ended up taking something to make me fall asleep and it didn't work. I kept thinking about Little Relisha. I kept wondering why SY asked the nephew if his uncle was from Kenilworth. Wouldn't you know where a man is from if you've known him for 8 years? What was she trying to get at? Also AW saying that he takes offense if people put Relisha's pics up because "they don't know her" WTF? These people are trying to help her. This is going to be a long day.

What does AT do for a living? He said some of that money in the photo was his tax refund.

Tatum has convictions from 1993, IIRC.

If SY is 27 years old that puts her birth year as 1986 or 1987.

She said, in the interview, last night, (Paraphrased) "this goes back to ...when I was six years old... I was taken away from my MOTHER & FATHER....I was NEVER raised by my mother."

(SY would have been six in 1992 or 1993. That, we know, is about the time KT went to jail/prison the time before the 2003 charges.)

In the interview with ATJ, Tatum's 23 year old nephew, SY went on to ask ATJ how long Tatum was married to AKT. The nephew said, since before he was born, for sure. So, that is about 23 or 24 years at the least...So, 1990...when SY was either three or four years old.

So, yes it is possible that SY thinks KT was possibly her father. Maybe she even remembers him. I keep thinking that KT got the job at the shelter either to be near SY & Relisha or maybe even suggested that SY try to get shelter there.

Maybe, we can't sleuth AKT? But she had similar public court records at the same time (in the 1990s) as KT. Wonder if he and AKT tried to get into a home in Virginia where SY was being fostered? (JUST another WILD Theory of Mine.) But given all SY's comments and questions with ATJ...it just seem very plausible.

Just wondering, has Shamika's story changed from the first? I'm really feeling she's telling the truth of what she knows. I don't think she knows the whole story, or the whys of what happened.

My only hang up is "IF" she was getting the daily call from the school, then she would know Relisha wasn't in school. Whether or not she knew where she was at that point, I don't know. I'm not in DC, no idea if their school system works like ours or not. We are very rural, yet receive an automated call for tardies, or absences. It only says "Hello, blah blah School. Your child, (Name given) has been marked tardy or absent from one or more periods today. Please send a note upon their returning to class. If you feel this call is in error, please call (school's number)." After so many unexcused absences, you'll receive a real phone call from the school. Then a conference with principal. You'll also receive a letter in the mail.

I don't know how people in the shelter get mail, if they even do. :( But I feel some type of phone calls would have occured. And somewhere along the way, a conference WAS done, but now I can't remember when! BUT, I do remember reading a MSM article about it.

I wanna know if the school person that saw Relisha knows who she was with that day? Did MYT often go take the kids to school or pick them up? Did a taxi or bus take them to school with a parent? According to the school person, Relisha said she had been staying with GRANDMA! That and LE saying she was last with Tatum, are the only two outside sources saying anything. Typical in cases we wonder who the last person outside the family saw the child and when. In this case, we have someone at the school who spoke with Relisha. Yes she had the dates wrong, but it's the only person who has stepped forward with the last time she was seen and what Relisha said! I have to believe her.

What does AT do for a living? He said some of that money in the photo was his tax refund.

Claims disability, so no work. Filed taxes because he has two kids, and got a refund based on that. NOW, I don't know what type of disability he gets. IF he ever worked enough to get Social Security Disability, versus SSI, he would get a check for each kid each month as well. Maybe someone should ask tonight what his disability is??

IMO, it's more mental disability, but don't know for fact. Drug addicts can receive disability, or so a disability lawyer told me.

he couldn't say. The only thing he kept saying was "I had jobs before!"

Still catching up on last night's posts... just saw that you called into the show! AWESOME!!! I couldn't listen last night, but I downloaded it, so I'm going to stop and listen to it right now.

Thanks, nikki80! And thanks to everybody that posted updates during the show...I've only read a few so far, but sounds like it was a good one. Wow, just wow! Ok, looking for my headphones...

ETA: Y'all slow down, so I can catch up, lol! Just kidding! Keep up the good work. :loveyou:
I'm off today, I'll eventually catch up!

I don't think Tony or Shamika can help the way they think. Tony upset about other people using the photos was kind of like a child being upset. He couldn't understand that the photos would help identify her if someone saw her. His thinking was people were stealing her photos from his and Shamika's FB, Instagram, etc., and that upset him. Again, I don't think it's because he doesn't want people looking for Relisha, but more that it was his, and someone took it (the photos), and he felt violated, and couldn't figure why they would it. :(

Perhaps seeing the questions people are asking has him and Shamika wanting the answers to those same questions. Nevermind they should have known the answers before Tatum ever took Relisha. Their mind doesn't think the same. Only now that the questions are coming, it appears they are thinking "Yeah, what about that?" In hindsight, maybe these questions are rattling some brain cells about, and making them wonder some of the same things. Maybe the more they think about things, and start questioning things, they'll turn on those they thought were helping, but were really fooling them. We might soon see some anger reactions towards other family members, and Tatum.

In Shamika and Tony's mind, at this point, they are pointing fingers at MYT, and AY. They may not think Tatum had her at the time. They may think she was staying at AY's. I don't know. IMO, Shamika isn't close to her MYT. Not a mother/daughter bond that we would expect to see. Perhaps part of the disconnect we see with Relisha and Shamika.

Shamika was definitely in my bullseye, but now, I don't think so. I don't know why my change, other than I just feel Shamika doesn't know the truth. She's saying what she knows, but I don't think she was informed of everything that went on.

MYT and AY on the other hand....they best start telling LE the truth!

OMG!!! Now, I am really confused. ATJ confirmed that KLT was released in 2006 and served his probation through 2011 BUT I just found this:
http://vadoc.virginia.gov/resources/vpb/decisions/2011/decisions-oct11.pdf

1166069
210805
Tatum, Karl Lee
11/02/2010
Not Grant
47
Male
Black
Crimes committed - Breaking And Entering; Breaking And Entering; Breaking And Entering
Extensive criminal record
Serious nature and circumstances of offense
Prior failure(s) under community supervision, therefore, unlikely to comply with conditions of parole

There is another PDF for 2011 and it looks like he did get parole in October 2011.
Parole Decisions October, 2011 with Reasons
vadoc.virginia.gov/.../decisions-oct11...‎
Virginia Department of Corrections
Oct 26, 2011 - N/A. 1166069 210805. Tatum, Karl Lee. 10/23/2011. Grant. 48. Male. Black. N/A. 1162365 214136. Lee, Gerald Antonio. 10/26/2011. Grant. 39.

BUT!!!! It looks like, from the bolded above that he was out on COMMUNITY SUPERVISION????????????????????

We need real/OFFICIAL clarification on his adjudication, community supervision, parole, and probation dates.

My feelings have changed a bit towards SY as well. After her interview tonight, I hope that stays the same. I know I was kinda hard on her when I firs tcommented but people are angry. I understand that they might not have the same thought process as most parents but I don't want them to learn the ropes at the expense of an 8 year old. I am still angry. What gives these people the right to have children and not care for them properly? I ride through some bad areas in DC everyday on my way to work and you know what? I see poverty stricken women with their children, but they are holding their hands, kids look happy, they look like they care.

If SY has a mental illness then I hope she gets help but it's not ok for her to get this "aha!" moment and all be forgiven. It's kinda like the parent who doesn't make their kid put the seatbelt on and gets in an accident and the child dies. NOW the parent is crying and sad saying I shoulda coulda woulda. You know better. Now your child is gone. Ugh.

I think you mean AW? Antonio Wheeler.

I have no clue what he does, I was under the impression he was unemployed. They said the check was for $721 each month. I thought the check was for Shamika, not AW.

anyhow this site ( http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclope...-while-receiving-ssi-disability-benefits.html ) sums it up pretty well. If the check is for $721 then that means that whoever gets it is not employed, otherwise the amount would be much lower.

Yep, what you said is true. This woman was not doing the right things, and she was surrounded by people who knew it. IMOO
But I think she trusted too much, and made bad choices. Sorry doesn't cut it for me, if she IS sorry. I never know if they're sorry for the child, or sorry they're having to deal with the aftermath. I'm still on the fence with this.

I will be surprised if Shamika shows up tonight on the podcast. I think there will be some "my lawyer advised me against it". I hope not. I think the nephew was trying to be honest. He seemed intelligent and more evolved than others. However, I think some of the things he said were what he had been told, not first hand knowledge. I believe he believes his uncle was a good man. Shamika sounded more "together" than I expected. Not drugged out as I expected, and she was coherent, unlike her writing. This case has me totally confused. Who is the bad person who is responsible for this child's disappearance? Obviously many people failed her. I don't have much hope that Relish is alive, but wish we could lay her to rest. And give peace to those who love her.

I am trying to find the link, but on one of the many news stories a woman commented below that she knew Shamika her whole life and around the neighborhood and the shelter she is known as being of 'slow mind'. I am not posting this as fact but I have always, fro mthe start thought she had some type of learning disability which would explain A LOT!!!!

Sadly most homeless people do have mental illness or learning disabilities. That would just be common sense because why else would they be homeless? Basic human instincts and average intellect are what keep us normal folks off of the streets.

I consider homeless people to be victims, victims of their own minds, victims of society, victims of bad parenting, victims of abuse. It is sad, but these people are also the most vulnerable and I think Shamika was duped. Imagine Shamika at 6 years old, younger than Relisha, being passed around from foster home to group home to wherever. She was in foster care until she was 18 and statistics everywhere show that the foster care system is rife with abuse.

On any given day, there are approximately 397,000 children in out-of-home care in the United States.
During the last year about 640,000 children spent some time in out-of-home care in the United States.
Children entering foster care remain there on average for nearly two years.
Despite the common perception that most children in foster care are young children, the average age of the children in foster care is over nine years old.
The median amount of time children spent in foster care increased between 2000 (12 months) and 2012 (13.1 months). On average, children in the American child welfare systems spend about two years — 22.7 months — in foster care. Nine percent of children in foster care have languished there for five or more years.
While most children in foster care live in family settings, a substantial minority — 15 percent — live in institutions and group homes.
Nearly half of all children in foster care have chronic medical problems.
About half of children under five years old in foster care have developmental delays.
Up to 80 percent of all children in foster care have serious emotional problems.
More than 58,000 children living in foster care have had their biological parental rights permanently terminated. The assumption is that once parental rights have been terminated, the State should work as rapidly as possible to ensure that the child is safely in a new adoptive home and that the adoption is finalized. Yet of these children, the average time they’ve been waiting to be adopted is nearly two years (22.2 months).
In 2012, 10 percent of the children (over 23,000) exiting foster care aged out of the system. Research has shown that teens aging out of the system are highly likely as adults to experience homelessness, poor health, unemployment, incarceration, and other poor outcomes.

It really threw me off when the nephew couldn't say if he had stepdaughters or if he had a grandchild. I mean I know that family's have secrets but goodness gracious.

  • #417
Where is the link to call the show? I have plenty of questions for Miss Shamika.

I am not unsympathetic to the childhood that SY had. But when she started having children of her own, it was time to put on the big girl panties or not have those children.

Where is Relisha?

  • #419
I am curious to know if KT's children are from AKT or a previous relationship.

Her FB led me to believe she had several adult children and young grandchildren.

I think between the two of them there are a bunch of grandkids but they are all not biologically related.

Where is Relisha?

You missed my point. If she has learning disabilities and severe mental illness she is not able to 'put on her big girl panties'.

You don't just tell a person with cancer to 'get over it' do you?
