Googling Mr. Savopoulos' father, Phillip, it appears he was born in Greece. So he too was an immigrant. One generation later, he and his son are success stories.

The murdered housekeeper is just as much a success story. She had worked hard, put her children through college, done good works in her community and bought the home she dreamed of retiring to.

Then, come the "entitled""scum...who take instead of work...and they kill for the things OTHERS WORKED for. They even kill a child. They think they are OWED.

It's disgusting. Really. And they deserve no "understanding", no,excuses, no mercy.

"She was feeling a lot of stress from her job" says NG of the slain housekeeper. I wonder what was the cause of the stress. I know all jobs have their moments of stress but what was the main reason she felt that way?

That's a rather passive/aggressive swipe at the S family. After all, they were also her employers.

It could just be stress from growing older and doing a physical type job. She was nearing sixty. That's a big house.

I've been thinking NG is tied into this somehow. Her media presence is strange to me.

what's his take? I don't have speakers on my computer. Thanks.

Family was comfortable with the suspect, to the point that he was able to take them hostage without an additional party. Text message was suspicious, surprise there. Accelerant used in the fire will illuminate if it was premeditated.

I don't get this, he was comfortable with the suspect? So comfortable that he spent the night in his home? No, if he was comfortable with the POI being there why did he tell the housekeeper not to come over the next day?

First ref I've heard about reward. Seems like neighborhood residents, visitors, tradespeople, delivery ppl w/not hesitate to give info to LE. Or at least I hope they w/not.

[Pol. Chief] "Lanier said police have gotten a steady stream of information from residents, but they are still looking for details on any suspicious activity from around the Savopoulos' home from Wednesday through Thursday, as well as information on the car.
A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest." bbm

This is good. The reward could help here. Someone knows something.

I would like to once again play the part of cheerleader for DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier. She is an awesome role model:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathy_L._Lanier

Please note the part about her becoming a mother at age 15. She has also overcome many other obstacles to become the success she is today. (Plus she grew up not far from where the car was found -- she knows that area of Maryland as well as she knows DC.)

As a lifelong DC resident, I can't praise her highly enough. She is a tall, blonde, white woman (an anomaly right there), quite detail-oriented and very measured in her statements to the public & press. No "foot in mouth" stuff with her! And make no doubt about it, she gets the job done.

By all accounts, she is very highly respected by both the MPD and the majority of DC constituents.

I have every confidence that under her leadership, this crime will be solved in short order.

Comfortable enough with the suspect that he didn't have to force entry. And may have been able to take them hostage easier too.

We'll never know because her coworker is speaking for her and I don't know if the coworker is credible. A big house....with two housekeepers.

Thanks and as more has emerged, I share your take on NG.

I believe SS was told to notify the housekeeper not to come over the next day.

Ok I understand. The suspect played nice guy and someone invited him in. Wow

I beg to differ. I was simply wondering why she felt so stressed. No need to read too much into it.

My point is that we do not know that the dead housekeeper was stressed.

I'm way behind you guys in catching up to this thread and forgive me if this has already been said, but just want to point out that New Carrollton is a point of access to lots of public transportation possibilities: Amtrak, MARC (DC-Baltimore-Frederick), and loads of various buses that go to cities Northeast of DC - Philly, NYC, New Haven, Hartford, Springfield, Boston, Concord - and Northwest - Allentown, Morgantown, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, etc. etc. Also, can take routes South to link up to VRE (Virginia Rail Express) or other points of access. And of course the metro (though I doubt the perps would be needing that mode of transport at the moment). In my opinion, mostly because I'm familiar with the region, the suspects going to New Carrollton makes a lot of sense to me if they needed to get out of the DC metro area fast, cheaply, and able to travel undetected.

That or they were familiar with him -- maybe someone from the husband's work? Handyman who did odd jobs around the house?
