Was it reported that there was in fact a banker/teller involved to perform the withdrawal? Wondering if there was money in a safe deposit box...and it was gotten that way from the bank? My bank would never release that amount of cash with out me being there in person....And I know everyone very well at the bank. I even think if I called and asked to release funds...that would be a HUGE red flag and they would call the police.

I believe this is the younger brother who was detained last night and then not held.

Click on the little magnifying glass by the little round picture. Careful, he is making a lewd gesture!

http://www.peekyou.com/darrell_wint/30596511

He was arrested at one time in 2011, age 25. He has been identified as a gang member. Maybe they already have his DNA, or maybe they got some last night.

Thanks so how many brothers does he have? So far Steffon and Darrell? Anyone know ages and DOB on them? This is so confusing cause they are using Steffon as an alias in th charging papers. I would be livid if my sibling used my name and it was included in the charging documents. That makes no sense. If Steffon Wint is not involved his name should not be on those papers!

This is a True Story. My car was broken into while I was working in a store as a District Manager. This meant my purse was in the trunk as well as a radar detector. The perp was caught first thing the next morning trying to cash a check. We spent a day and one half in court because the perp had his brother's drivers license on him when arrested. His parents got on the stand and testified that the wrong son had been arrested. The brother was in jail so he was brought over in his jail suit to testify it wasn't him. Meanwhile, we have handwriting officials that have the two brothers write on a blackboard in court to compare the signature to the one arrested. This is when I saw first hand what crooks and their families can do! What a nightmare!

I am really intrested to know how these evil people approached the house and got inside.
One reason I'm interested to know this is because I keep wondering and thinking, did someone the family trusted betray them? Is DW the only perpetrator who had a connection?

I wish all LE worked with this swiftness.

This was briefly discussed a thread or so ago, but how/was the DNA processed so quickly? Killer on the run? Wealthy family? PD lab not backed up like other major American cities? Why?
Interesting question and one that I would like to know the answer to, too. IMO, it goes to show what we all know but many deny, the wealthy get preferential treatment!

The fact this mansion was blocks from the vice-president's mansion is just an excuse before the question is asked. The VP's house is highly guarded 24/7, I imagine.

In the charging documents, it said that the BATF Lab performed the DNA tests and promptly entered it into FBI CODIS and received an immediate match..

I cannot believe that the bank branch manager did not alert the police, once dispensing that amount of cash. SS did not personally withdraw that cash. Being in the banking business he (she) should know something was wrong and should be followed up on. Not to mention that any transaction over $10,000 a form for the IRS has to be filled out and forwarded to them. Even if you are depositing over $10K in cash.

JMO's

Yes. Absolutely.
Also, wasn't it stated that there was a large amount in money orders?
When you purchase money orders (one or ten) over a couple of thousand dollars, the person selling the MO's have to report it. This happened to a person in front of me at the post office. Not a happy customer, to say the least.

"Wint, who had worked for Savopoulous's company American Iron Works, was found with over $10,000 in money orders in his car. The truck he was travelling in with was found to have a stack of $100 bills and other money orders, police said."

Safety deposit box, cameras? keys? and doesn't a bank officer overlook all of that also?
The bank was a HUGE RED FLAG!
I really hope ALL banks take this horrific murders into consideration and call LE for safety checks when people withdraw large ammounts of CASH, not normal IMO

Steroids could be a factor, but Mr. Wint seems to have personal problems with the family, didn't he have some altercation at work with a machete? Does LE think the motive is money? I think financial motive is certainly possible given the victims wealth, but I think Mr. Wint's motives go much deeper. Mr. Wint allegedly stabbed the 10 yr old son, correct? That's very sick, but it also may show Mr. Wint's seething hatred for the family. I think it's possible he was jealous of everything they had (wealth), or may be he had some issue at former job and felt slighted (he might be a sociopath/psychopath?). Stabbing is a very angry and personal crime. Was arson used to cover up deaths/crime scene? If he set victim(s) on fire while alive/immolation then it's extremely painful way to die and seems vengeful. Jmo/

Not only is stabbing vengeful, but from what I have seen it appears that the child is what was burned the worst. Do you have any theories on that?

My feeling is that he was very resentful of the family and their money. And the fact that this child was raised in luxury. So maybe he took some pleasure in causing the child pain. In destroying the child. Also he may have had some frustration in not getting more money from them. And since he had already been using the child to force their cooperation, he took his frustration out on tbe child too.

They sure wrote it in a way that is so hard to understand. But yes, W2 appears to be some unknown person who got the photo, not the "other emplooyee" who withdraw the money.

W2 could very well be the person that the assistant rang crying.

The charging doc says it was done where the bank branch manager handed the money to an AIW employee who in turn handed it to the driver.

I have two questions. One is, why wouldn't "employee" take the money over there him/herself? Why use the driver at all? Or maybe just use the driver to drive "employee" over?
The other is, what would cause W-1 and W-2 to be in any danger? The only thing I can think of is maybe they took some of the money. What else would possibly put them in danger? That was the only connection they had to what was happening.
NG at first did one interview on camera. After that she did not want her face shown. Did she feel in danger? Is she W-2?
Ok a third question. Was the money put in the red car because someone planned to drive away in that car?

Mrs Figueroa was taken to Georgetown Hosp and died there.

omg Philip died from thermal and sharp force injuries :(

Oh nooooooooooo.
I think that the sharp force injures were sustained over a period of time to make the others cooperate.
I don't know what the term thermal means. Does it mean burns? Please tell me no.

This is just a request. could we knock it off bashing and casting suspicion upon NG now? she has never once been mentioned by LE. There is absolutely no evidence linking her to this crime. Everyone here has been over and over trying to implicate her in any way but nothing ever sticks. can we please leave this poor woman alone now? she worked with this family for twenty years, helped raise their children. She is an immigrant and probably not the most sophisticated, educated person in the universe, and gave several interviews while she was most likely emotionally shocked, distraught and confused. To me, I felt she thought she was being helpful, and was actually mistating things because her communication skills leave something to be desired, and media types have a way of putting words in your mouth when you are not forthcoming. If and when LE mention her, then I will be the first in line to eat crow, but for now can we stop accusing her in any possible way that we can? Please and thank you.

No. The bank person accompanies you to the vault with the safety deposit boxes but you are totally on your own in there. They do not know what is in the safety deposit box. You go in with a bag, you come out with a bag. What's in it is up to you.

No theories, but your insight about the child is interesting. fyi- According to news, Wint in the past had threatened to kill someone's infant. Maybe it's easier to bully and terrorize children, but threatening/harming a child is extremely sadistic imo/ But not a psychologist, so couldn't tell you why someone would pick on/harm children. Jmo/

"...In 2010, he pleaded guilty to malicious destruction of property after he allegedly broke into a woman's apartment, stole a television, vandalized her car and threatened to kill her infant daughter..."

So the individual(s) that were driving/in car with Wint are in custody, but there is no information on what their charges are? So they haven't been released yet (up thread it was posted others released)? There may be a number of individual(s) involved depending on the facts, for example if there were co-conspirators that aided Wint before/during/after commission of alleged crimes. And hypo if anyone harbored fugitives from LE/authorities. Wow, so it sounds like there are going to be quite a few more person(s) charged with various crimes. Many kudos to LE/FBI/U.S. Marshall's for serious efficient investigations so far. Jmo/

All individuals with the exception of D Wint have been released, no charges were filed.

Probably because SS gave those instructions on how he wanted it done. The money was put in that car because it was hidden away in the garage where neighbors wouldn't see the perp get it. jmo

And the driver had access and was familiar with the garage and the car and SS knew that.
