FWIW, you can have a closed head injury/concussion even with a helmet because the brain can hit the inside of the skull when there is a sudden acceleration/deceleration. I agree that Amy would have sought medical attention if she thought her son had a concussion. Maybe they had gone to the doctor and got the standard, "keep an eye on him and don't let him nap" instructions. On the other hand, maybe someone was already in the house at the time Philip was supposed to go to school.

I try to read to see if posts have been given responses, but it's nearly impossible...so I am jumping in!

This was on a Wednesday. I am sure Phillip does his racing on the weekends...so I am not completely sold on the fact that he was home that day. I know there was a report, but with so much misreporting here, I need further proof.

However, I do not believe for one second that this happened any sooner than Wednesday! I have seen a few posts saying the kidnapping part may have gone on longer - implying days, or something.

Really??? So y'all think Savvas went to work on Wednesday, with his family being tied up inside...with the perp(s)...and the perp(s) let him go on about his work all day???

Sounds to me like some of you are thinking waaaay to hard and trying to find answers...that we just cannot have right now.

But of course, that is just my opinion!

I am assuming nobody knows
Its an observation, not a fact
A thought just crossed my mind. This possible sighting was outbound, going toward Maryland, on New York Ave and South of Rhode Island Ave...that's really near the notorious Trinidad neighborhood and fairly close to the DC/MD PG County line. Back in the 90's and during the infamous crack wars and when DC held the "esteemed" title of "Murder Capitol of the World," much of the crime occurred in close proximity to the State line.

The running legend, although reports were that it was true, was that DC and PG County would literally drag a shooting victim out of the jurisdiction and over the line so that the other department had to deal with the case. This was occurring in both SE DC and NE DC.

I'm wondering, if a DC cop saw someone driving erratically through the Trinidad area of NE DC...would he possibly ignore it because the perp would soon be PG County's problem? Maybe witness 3 was a DC Cop, trained to use words like "erratic", and maybe he got a good look at the guy as he headed toward Rhode Island Ave.

It's raised my suspicion as well. Plus, the boy was torched and so was the car. iirc, in the charging documents, W-1 claimed to have dropped off the cash and then headed to Chantilly. And that begs the question, why he would be headed to Chantilly without SS? I think it is possible he dropped off the cash--and stayed there.

I have just explained why I am replying to this post, that may have already been replied to...

But LEO has already stated that the assistant was at a hardware store at 11:30 and then in other areas at the time of the fire. He was not involved in setting the house on fire and stealing the Porsche. Y'all can continue to try to put the assistant in places where he is involved, but not in places where LEO has confirmed he wasn't!

He was caught over 10 miles away from the scene of the crime. By that logic, everything in Washington, D.C. is near the scene of the crime.

Very true
The District is tiny by any definition. Approx 65 sq miles. It's all close

Do you have a link to the info that he missed calls from SS after he dropped the money?

The Washington Post stated:

The assistant... tried to call Savvas Savopoulos about 1:40 p.m. but got no answer, the police documents show. Savvas Savopoulos had called the assistant at 11:54 a.m. — the last incoming or outgoing call he made or answered before the fire.

Per the assistant's own admission to police, he did not try to call SS until 1:40 p.m. That's nearly 4 hours with no contact between W-1 and SS after he left a large sum of money in an unlocked car. It's doubtful W-1 earned $40K in one year. He seemed very relaxed and cavalier about leaving $40K in a car.

That driver has on what looks like a uniform. Earlier a picture or a video showed a well groomed middle-aged blonde lady walking away with the dogs...who were both on a leash.

That woman was a neighbor walking her own 2 dogs.

I am truly on the fence with this W1
But as a new employee, what right did he have to question his boss's instructions?
His responsibilities were over once the money was delivered

I just read Witness 1's biography and this new job would be quite a come-down for him. Not sure I can post the link.

He seemed to be very excited about it.

If I'm being held and am allowed to make a call im going to say call 911. They can beat me more BUT they will leave because they know LE is now on the way.

If a maniac has my spouse tied up and a knife to my sons throat I might do as they ask and throw money at the situation in hopes he leaves

Something tells me that "the Assistant" slipped up about getting the key because the car was locked and that the key was actually for the for the Porsche, which was locked and parked on the street per VF's husband. Something tells me that "the assistant" knew the perp needed a get away car. Leaving the key in an envelope with the money made it so the suspect could take the money and the car and get the heck out of their lives.

ITA. He unlocked the Porsche for DW to use and he mistakenly thought he unlocked the Mosler. I read somewhere that a neighbor saw the Porsche driving at a high rate of speed down the street outside the house on Wednesday. It's interesting that LE omitted the neighbor's statement from the charging documents.

On his racing Website, Witness 1 says he will be competing in two races in the next few months. One in California, costs $495 to enter...and lasts 5 days. Five days room and meals.

Then he is racing in Italy in July, another multi-day event.

Interesting. And expensive.

BBM, since you included a quote from something I wrote -- I'm not one of the people who thinks that they were imprisoned for days. I just think it's possible that the perp(s) came earlier in the day than 6 PM, since we don't have any information -- other than that the police supposedly "think" it started around 6 PM.

IMHO it's possible and maybe even likely that Amy was already under the killer's control when she called her husband at 5:30. I suppose it's even possible that it happened early in the day, depending on when Savvas left, but I'm leaning toward the time being around the time she said she was going out and that Savvas needed to come home, which was 5:30.

Yes. We don't know that it was Amy that phoned through for pizzas, just a woman using Amy's phone right?

And we don't know if it was SS using his phone either.

Actually, SS's sister talked to him on Thursday. I am pretty sure sister would know if it was him or not.

I wouldn't feel my responsibilities were over until the money safely reached my bosses hands. I would be very nervous dropping 40k cash in an unlocked car, and just leaving it. I would be calling my employer and checking in, until I knew it was retrieved. JMO

I agree- it made me think "huh, wow, so these scumbags just camped out at their house, while they were being held hostage- and just had free reign of all their stuff, and taking their cars cruising. so brazen".... I just realized that wasn't in the charging docs either. That is really weird.

We don't know what instructions he was given about that.
He may have been doing what he was told

And I have to say again... :fence:

It would be interesting to know when he made those plans. Did he participate in other races between March and May that kept him away from work for a week at a time?

I think it is possible that he was watching and waiting for a chance to enter. Maybe when VF went outside to leave, he overpowered her and forced her back inside?

I agree; if not for some of the other evidence (e.g., where the Porche was dropped versus where W1's father lives) I would be thinking that maybe W1 just thought this was how the rich do things. I mean, how does he know this isn't normal for his boss? I could even say taking a picture of the money would be indiscreet but not totally suspect because, gee, here's more money than he's probably ever seen in one place, and my goodness, isn't that cool? And ditto for the photo of the car. If he were a seasoned staff person to the rich and famous I would think it was awful, but this is a guy who has never been in a position like the one he was in (as far as I know). The novelty of all that money and driving around in fancy cars every day must have been pretty exciting.
