Former President Donald Trump feels entitled to a payout after Dominion Voting Systems settled with Fox News.

Dominion and Fox agreed to settle a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit in April. The lawsuit is one of several addressing statements made by Fox News hosts regarding the legitimacy of the 2020 election. The lawsuit spawned from the privately-owned voting equipment company challenging Fox News' claims about Dominion regarding the election. The companies agreed to settle for $787.5 million, and Trump feels it's only fair if he receives compensation for the pain he suffered at the hands of media organizations as well.


"Dominion gets almost a Billion Dollars and I, after years of Fake News, Hoaxes, Scams, and Investigations, am entitled to NOTHING? Is that really the way it's supposed to work? I don't think so!" Trump posted on his social media outlet Truth Social on Tuesday afternoon.

Fox News Wednesday notified Tucker Carlson's lawyers that the former prime-time anchor violated his contract with the network when he launched his own Twitter show on Tuesday, according to a copy of a letter obtained by Axios.

Carlson was ousted from Fox News in April following a record $787 million defamation settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, which sued the network for making false claims about the company.

Carlson, Axios reported, has since accused Fox of fraud and has argued that Fox breached his contract when its senior executives reneged on promises made to Carlson "intentionally and with reckless disregard for the truth."

Carlson's lawyers also argued Fox broke its promise to Carlson not to settle with Dominion Voting Systems "in a way which would indicate wrongdoing" on the part of the former host.

Axios previously reported that Carlson was told by a member of the Fox board that he was taken off the air as part of the Dominion settlement, two sources briefed on the conversation told Axios.

Fox News has sent Tucker Carlson a cease-and-desist letter, alleging that his new Twitter show is a breach of his contract with the network, Axios first reported. Carlson is still being paid through the end of his agreement with Fox News, which is set to expire on December 31, 2024, with Axios reporting that Carlson is making a First Amendment argument for his right to host the new program.

"Tucker will not be silenced by anyone," Harmeet Dhillon, a lawyer who represents Carlson, said in a statement to Axios. "He is a singularly important voice on matters of public interest in our country, and will remain so."

A longtime producer for Tucker Carlson has been ousted from Fox News after being found responsible for an on-air headline that referred to US President Joe Biden as a "wannabe dictator".

The producer offered to resign with two weeks' notice, but was told to clean out his desk and leave immediately, he said.

Fox, in a statement on Wednesday, said the chyron had been taken down and the issue "addressed", without providing further explanation.

Remember in the old days, these tv stations (they still are that) could lose their license if they spread false information and propaganda. It's a shame that the "free market" and greed destroyed that system.

I was just reading that (in early June) Newsmax staff have been subpoenaed by Smartmatic.


Smartmatic has subpoenaed several of the right-wing cable network’s current and former employees for work and personal correspondence.

... roughly three weeks ago they were told to hand over “mirror images of their personal cellphone, personal email, and iCloud,” as Smartmatic’s lawsuit against the network moves forward.

Newsmax staffers are understandably nervous that their texts, emails, and other correspondence may, too, become part of the public record. There may not be much they can do about it.

Trump allies Michael Flynn and Steve Bannon have been subpoenaed by Smartmatic as part of the voting technology company’s massive defamation lawsuits against Fox News and Newsmax over their promotion of 2020 election lies.

Court filings made public last week in New York and Delaware indicate that Flynn and Bannon were hit with subpoenas, demanding that they sit for depositions and answer questions under oath. The depositions were initially scheduled for this week, though timing can change based on negotiations and other developments in the lawsuits.

Bannon is also required to turn over subpoenaed documents to Smartmatic, including any communications with top officials from Fox News, the Trump campaign and the Trump administration about the 2020 presidential election, according to court filings.
