I think the bond continues till sentencing. He may not go into custody the day of sentencing either. He may be given some time to take care of things.

I think he and his family were expecting an acquittal. Even though it's only a few years it's probably hitting them hard. His kids will be pre teens/teens before he gets out. It's not life but it seems like it I'm sure.

I'm not sure what Nikki has in mind for fighting further.... He's been convicted so there won't be further charges.
The whole thing is just so sad.

Reached by phone afterward, the late child’s mother Nicole “Nikki” Dudley, a 30-year-old Air Force staff sergeant, said “The evidence spoke for itself and to sit there and say this person might not serve time for killing a child (is not right) … and he gets to go see his (children).”

The verdict came after a nearly two-week trial in during which Ms. Dudley said, “I haven’t slept and barely eaten.”

At one point, regarding upcoming sentencing, Ms. Dudley said, “The fight is not over.”

According to Ms. Dudley, “It doesn’t feel like justice. If they (people) saw an autopsy picture of her own child like that, they would feel the same way.

“It’s very traumatic and traumatizing and will be for the rest of my life.

Ms. Dudley said an alternate juror contacted her afterward to express disgust with the verdict. The initial jury included 11 women and 5 men before four alternates were dismissed at the end of the trial.

I'm sick, just sick! This man beat a baby to death! If he gets less than 8 years it's be a travesty on top of a travesty! I'm so sad right now. Just another verdict that says "Children and women don't matter." I'm so sick of short sentences for child abuser and killers and rapists.

Corbett was given the maximum sentence of 8 years. I wish he could have gotten more, but at least he wasn't given less.

I am absolutely sick to my stomach at the thought of only 18 months. That is complete BS. The FB page for Evan that his mom runs does not have any posts about the verdict so I don't know which one is correct.

In sentencing Corbett, the judge noted his lack of a criminal background and exemplary military record.

Prosecutors, along with the victim's mother, asked the judge to sentence Corbett to the maximum eight years behind bars.

The judge suspended the eight-year sentence for 31 days time served and probation.
