The neighboring states of Pennsylvania & New Jersey share the Delaware River which flows into the Christiana.

The Doe Network (which would have sourced the info from NamUs 1.0) says DNA is unavailable, but that his skull is at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. I wonder if any extraction attempts have been made since 2012 when he was added to their website.

Have a theory that this might be our doe.

Edward Maps: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Based on the knowledge we have that this person would have to be near the Delaware river, out of the missing people who meet the criteria based in NJ, DE, and PA, he is the closest to the Delaware River. The age matches, height, and timeline. Would love to hear everyones thoughts

It's possible given the stats, and missing man is from a location in PA that is on the Delaware River.

Edward Maps remains wanted for the murder and arson of his wife and daughter in 1962 - articles seem to indicate authorities are pretty clear he did it - he was on FBI Top 10 for at least 5 years and declared deceased in 1971. Articles are as recent as 2022 with one theory that someone else killed his wife and daughter and then him, throwing his body into the river.

If those theories are from 2022, then it would make sense that his body went down the river and was later discovered in Delaware. Given the history, the state, the timeline and the theories that already state that his body could have been thrown in the river, then this might be our the identity of the doe. Wondering if its worth a submit for a potential match.

Given what I have read, I think he did kill his wife and daughter. Even if he did though, that wouldn't preclude him from being a John Doe found 10 years later (50+ years ago). Given he was on FBI list and remained wanted one would think it would have been previously reviewed, but I have no idea if it was or wasn't.

Unsure if it was either. Might submit it if it gains more traction, but wanna be certain it could be a potential match before submitting it since I don't wanna overwork the people at the Doe Network. I'm not sure how they could test to see if it is him or not though but i'd be curious to see if it is him or not. There's only one thought I kinda have lurking in the back of my brain now.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the man the FBI was looking for was only a block away in the Smithsonian Institute?

If you decide to submit, you can submit it to DoeNetwork or to the case contacts listed in Namus on both the missing and unidentified.
