1 teen dead, another critical after carnival fight erupts into shooting at Concord Mall

A fight took a deadly turn, claiming the life of a teen, when police say a suspect opened fire during a carnival in Wilmington Saturday night.

Two teens were found shot when officers arrived at Concord Mall in Wilmington around 10:45 p.m.

They were transported to a local hospital, where the 16-year-old died and a 17-year-old is in critical condition.

One teen was killed and another was critically injured in a shooting outside of a carnival being held in the parking lot of Wilmington. Del.'s Concord Mall on Saturday night, officials say.

According to the state police, an investigation into the incident found that a fight is believed to have broken out at the entrance to a carnival that was being held in the mall's parking lot.

During the fight, officials said, an unknown suspect is believed to have pulled out a firearm and fired several shots -- striking the two teens.

Officials said the suspect then fled in an unknown direction.
