Facts about weather in the Felton, DE area during February 1979. All of these facts have been double checked by the US Weather Station at Dover Air Force Base locate just a few miles (less than 5 miles) from Felton, DE and the News Journal articles (the local newspaper for Felton and most of Delaware). According to both sources...there was NO recorded precipitation on February 4th 1979 (the day after Tina went missing) in or around Felton. The first recorded snowfall was on Wednesday February 7, 1979 and it was recorded that 5.90 inches of snow fell. Then on Tuesday February 13, 1979 there was a total of 9.80 inches of snow. It is not clear if it was a new snowstorm or just more snow accumulated on top of the existing snow, but there was a total of 9.80 inches of snow on that specific day. What I found most intriguing (and what a lot of local people including myself remember about the "huge snowstorm" in February of 1979) was that on Sunday February 18, 1979 it was recorded that 24.80 inches of snow fell in the Felton area and that snowstorm blanketed a lot of the mid eastern section of the US. What I find so intriguing about it is that the storm happened on a Sunday and Tina was reported missing on a Saturday the day before a huge snowstorm blanketed the area. I have no proof of when Tina was actually reported missing to law enforcement, but 2 facts that are made very clear and could be remembered relatively easy by whomever filed the report was that #1- she went missing on a Saturday (because of it being a weekend and no school as she was reportedly last seen at 9am) and #2- that it happened the day before a huge snowstorm hit the area (because over 2ft of snow fell and people still remember the storm vividly even today). I truly believe that her going missing on a Saturday and her going missing the day before a huge snowstorm hit the area are most likely accurate. If those 2 facts are accurate than it is almost certain that Tina went missing on February 17, 1979 and not on February 3rd as it shows in all her missing reports. I have given all this info to the proper authorities and hopefully they will look into it in depth to provide as much accurate info about Tina's disappearance to the public as possible. With all the research that I have found, Tina's missing persons info that is available to the public is for certain incorrect. Either the information about her going missing before a huge snowstorm hit the area, or her reported missing date has to be wrong. Even if the US Weather Station at Dover Air Force Base incorrectly recorded the weather info for February 4, 1979; the local newspaper for that day or the next 2 days said or showed nothing in it that would indicate that there was any snowfall at all on February 4th. The local newspaper did for certain have articles and other info that did verify all the other times snowfall accumulation was reported by the US Weather Station at Dover Air Force Base in February of 1979. I sincerely hope the DSP take the time to verify this information by looking at her case file. Who knows what new information can be found if they look into this inquiry or how long it has been since anyone in law enforcement has even looked into Tina's case. I know that they have her DNA on file and they do update her file as to rule out UIBs, but I really would like to see someone take a good look at her file and maybe update her missing persons profile to fix any reported mistakes and possibly add new information that was not previously released.
