Well, technically (pun almost intended there!) it would: They would have known about the Verizon dead zone and would have no doubt had ATT cells. or, contrarily, called from a land line.

Yeah - that pesky Verizon dead zone. TY for the reminder, debs. The dead zone may well have extended to the farm.

Also, what about the media report that stated DD left her phone @ home that day? Unless I'm hallucinating (or remembering incorrectly), I remember reading that a few weeks back. Does anyone else recall reading that?

ETA: Or was it reported that she left her phone in her car?

Spicher says she's told police the same thing. "They wanted me to tell them that Terri did it or that Terri knew something," she says. "I told them everything that I knew, over and over again. But I didn't tell them what they wanted to hear."

VERY, VERY unfortunate - if true. Emotions run high, I understand (I have had some of them myself), but the outcome of letting your emotions and head lead you around by the nose can, and will, lead to missteps... each and every time.

In the end, if these ladies are shown to be innocent (video, witness statements, etc), I hope that LE has enough information to suspect others.
Seems like there is some MAJOR tunnel vision taking place.

I wonder if Terri reads here? If not, she should.

I would hope not. If she's guilty she might be getting a lot of counteract information.

Thanks for the link to Dede's twitter!! The ONLY thing she mentions regarding Kyron's disappearance is this '@Rosemont_Farm This is my friend's child. I know him. It's so so scary!' on June 6th....2 days after he disappeared. The rest of her twitter is complete light & fun. Kinda strange if this is your frined's child. You know, the friend who's house you moved into after her husband left?? The friend who was found to have a MFH plot against that husband which is why he left?? This woman does not appear to care that Terri's son has just disappeared off the face of the earth. Anybody care to explain why? http://twitter.com/Dedejustdede

I know someone who has a fairly popular knitting blog. She writes about various knitting projects, techniques and throws in a lot of funny anecdotes from her life.

She continued to make blog entries that were all about knitting and funny life anecdotes throughout the month last year when she found out that: a) she was diagnosed with cancer; b) her husband had been having an affair and wanted a divorce; c) her teenager was caught with drugs and d) she'd been turned down for a major contract due to the recession.

Her lack of sharing her serious concerns didn't mean she didn't care that she had cancer, her husband was leaving her, her kid was in trouble and her finances had taken a major unexpected blow. It just meant that she didn't want to share those particular parts of her life with the general public until she'd had a chance to come to terms with it herself.

Pinch me so I know I'm awake and not dreaming this case. Nobody seems to be concerned to find Kyron anymore! What DS had to say in this interview didn't answer anything for me. Sick over Kyron still missing, and all we get is BS, alittle everyday..

Here's why I thought DD forgot her phone:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/08/02/earlyshow/main6736423.shtml

"Early Show" co-anchor Erica Hill pointed out Spicher's friends are telling CBS News exclusively that the day Kyron went missing she says in the 90-minute period that's unaccounted for, she forgot her cell phone and was at work.

ETA: Also, in this link, @ about the 1:20 mark, reporter Erica Hill states that DD told friends she forgot her phone.

Dede Spicher: "I just really don't. In my heart, I really don't. In all of these years [as her friend], I have not seen anything that would lead me to believe that she is capable or motivated in any way to do something like this."

Casey Anthony: "I know in my heart, I know in my gut, I know with every ounce of my being that we will be with her again."

Yes, and I thought that the people she worked for on that farm usually had a lunchtime and DD was expected to come in for lunch and didn't show up. There must be more to the story than just forgetting her phone that day, IMO.

I'm a chronic cell phone forgetter. All anyone has to do is ask my kids, my husband, family and friends. It's really touch and go whether it is charged or if I remember to throw it in my purse. It's just not that important to me. And now, mine is broken and I don't care.

That said, my husband, daughters, a few friends ALWAYS have their phones. It's like a fifth appendage. I know that if I cannot reach them by cell (via my land line), something is very likely wrong as they will text me or tell me when they will be in a dead zone. Our dead zones are most definitely known and defined (we live in the country with huge pine trees everywhere).

So, to me, it really depends on DD's known habits. She seemed pretty technically savvy with a blog, twitter and FB. Based on the need for bat phones, I'd guess having a cellphone was of upmost importance to her and to TH and that "forgetting it at home" was not a normal occurrence.

"Well, isn't that convenient?" ;)

I also have questions for DS about those ten days spend with TMH. She was there when TMH was carrying on with MC on computer with the pics and all that - and that didn't strike her as odd either? So, I hardly can put much stock in what's in DS's heart and impressions of her friend TMH.

I do agree that it's strange that she seemed to be expected to have lunch with the owner & the other worker, and that when they saw her again, they state that they "have no idea where she was during that 90 minutes."

But I also find it equally strange that the timeframe DD is alleged to have *disappeared* went from 90 minutes to more than 3 hours (according to *sources*). Very confusing, and it leads me to distrust much of the info the media is reporting on this case.

Why is anyone expecting more from a friend than the parents themselves did?

IMO, the parents were oddly quiet when Kyron went missing. We NEVER heard them out pleading for his return. We know that Kaine asked his fellow employs to not speak to the media. Maybe the family asked everyone to not be too outspoken to avoid the "media" speculation about family members. Maybe DeDe was just being a great friend by respecting the families wishes to keep the focus on Kyron but not giving fuel to the media.

Quoted for truth. Honestly, I'm a mom and a soft-hearted person, but if one of my friends was (God forbid) going through something like this, I highly doubt I would be on Facebook or Twitter about it even though I use those sites. I'd be afraid of causing offense or invading their turf by saying too much or causing unwanted attention or weirdo stalkers, etc.

This proves what, that people sometimes use a hackneyed, cliched turn of phrase when they are questioned by reporters about a frightening situation?

The irony is I haven't seen Terri Horman speaking out supporting the terrible injustices of what has been printed about Dede. Interesting and very IMPORTANT... Why isn't Terri screaming from the rooftop about how terrible she feels that Dede is getting dragged into a horrible situation just because they are friends. Not wise decisions made by either woman in any part of this case from the earliest days. MOO

I have no doubt that Houze has a very tight gag on Terri. Houze is much, much too smart to attempt to try this case in the court of public opinion. As much as we would like to hear Terri attempt to defend herself in public, it is not, legally, in her best interest to do so. It is her lawyer's job to insure that she has the best defense possible - and, at this point, that means keeping her mouth shut.

I have little doubt that, after the sexting became public, Houze let Terri know, in no uncertain terms, that he would drop her cold if she let out so much as a peep.

It may be infuriating to the public that Terri has "lawyered up" - and from all appearances, it following his instructions, but that is her right.

If I were in Terri's shoes - and innocent - I'd be keeping my mouth shut too.

The cell phone wasn't the only means of trying to contact Dede on the farm that day. A person who was working with her tried to find her, too, but didn't see her anywhere on the farm.

I live on 50 acres, partially wooded, creeks, some fields, then the house site, barns, and such. I have worked on my farm with family, and I've never had a problem finding them when they were working on another part of the property. Just my experience.

You'd think that Dede would tell the person that she was working with, "Hey, I'm going over by the daylilies on the back side to weed." But no, she just disappears.

Is Dede hard of hearing? That's the only other acceptable explanation of her not being able to hear the cell phone or someone calling out for her. Except, of course, if she wasn't on the property at all during the time in question.

Misty Croslin: "If I knew, I would tell. I don`t know anything else. I told them everything I know. There`s nothing else I can tell them."

Tammi Smith's attorney: ""When Tammi went and visited the police she told them everything she knows," he said."

Haleigh and Gabriel are still missing. I wonder why?

Think about when you usually hear someone say this. Though they know the truth, they say "I know in my heart..." and then follow up with something that they know is not true.

I agree about the confusing. If someone comes out in media and states something, some people take it as gospel. Now take for instance DeDe's time line changed, because of testimony to the GJ, and that was a source the media is talking about. The first story was from someone that heard it from somewhere, but wasn't even on the job site. Things like this make things awfully confusing.

If Terri were my client I would tell her the same thing. "When you are the target of the investigation, rightly or wrongly, opening your mouth only opens up avenues of attack or impeachment for the prosecution if this gets to trial. It doesn't matter how innocent you are and how much you want to shout that from the rooftops, no matter what you say, someone will find something wrong with what you said, the way you said it, who you said it to, when you said it or what you were wearing when you said it or all of the above. It's a no win situation. You need to keep a long term view and play for the long term goals no matter how much it hurts in the short term. For example, fighting to get custody of baby K today does you no good if it increases the risk that you will spend the rest of your life in jail and can never see her. If you doubt that it can increase that risk, just look at how much damage your husband has done to your reputation in the eyes of potential jurors already - and this before the fight even starts. No matter how much you want to speak out today, you need to shut up if you want to have any chance at all of a future."

Great point, debs. I hope LE has checked to see if that farm was also in the dead zone...:waitasec:
