A Calgary woman desperate to find her missing sibling received an extort attempt that included a convincing AI-generated photo of what looked to be her sister tied up in a van.

Disgustingly, someone tried extorting the sister looking for Deeanna by sending an AI-generated picture of Deeanna shackled in a van. Some other details mentioned in the article:

• It is believed that Deeanna took the wrong bus and went 11km in the wrong direction
• She disappeared around 11pm
• She is dependent on Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (Albertan program offering health and financial benefits to those who can't work due to a handicap)
