Testimony From Key Casey Witness Could Be Falling Apart

Buchanan was questioned Wednesday and her lawyer said she has no idea exactly where Caylee was found. He said if prosecutors show her a map and ask if she had searched specific locations in the woods off Suburban Drive, she'd be able to tell them.

"I believe she signed an affidavit that she searched the area where the body was found. Somebody may have suggested where the body was found, but she has never been to that area to see precisely where the body was," Cassidy explained."

Defense's Motion with Laura Buchanan's Affidavit on page 17

3. On September 3, 2008, the team in which I was assigned went to Suburban Street in Orlando and searched the area near where the remains of Caylee Anthony were found.

6. I personally searched near the privacy fence and worked my way towards and then beyond the spot where the body was found.

This statement is confusing me! How can he say that his client signed an affidavit saying that she searched the area where the body was found, and in the next sentence say she has never been to that area to see precisely where the body was found? either she HAS or she HASNT been to that area!

But if I'm reading this correctly, he is saying that his Client signed an affidavit saying.. Yes.. I searched the area that Caylee's body was found and she wasn't there when I was there in September. I swear this is true, even though I couldn't FIND the spot where Caylee was found and I have never BEEN there, or had the spot pointed out to me.... ?

Basically she is swearing that she searched the EXACT spot Caylee SHOULD have been had she been there in September and no Caylee. Sounds like she couldnt find the spot if she tried.

It's no wonder the defense want's to go fishing for TES. If this one can be pushed around and manipulated to spill a few miss-truths then perhaps there are more that can throw a monkey wrench in the Body dump timing!

I'm sorry for my little rant there. I am just so put off by this case lately for some reason. I think I am mostly angry that this whole case is a Circus Sideshow. Some day's I'm angry because Caylee's family should be the ones seeking justice. Then I come here to WS and I read all the wonderful things that everyone on WS has to say about Caylee, and I am reminded that there are many many more people out there who keep her in their hearts and are desperately seeking justice for this poor little girl. I just can't help getting angry at some of the details and players involved.

You'd almost think that proving the body was dumped like trash by Lee or his associate DC, while ICA was in jail proves that she wasn't still murdered by her.

ITA Ssejors, it sounds like she and her Lawyer have decided to place blame on the defense or whomever typed up that affidavid she signed. Silly gal just didn't understand what she was signing. Too bad the SA doesn't threaten a fishing expedition into her private life, ex's, childrens teachers, whoever like the defense did with Kronk or maybe they have and that explains the about face.
Guess the wonderful grandparents won't be too pleased now :)

It's going to be interesting to find out one day what she said in this Depo with the State Prosecutors..especially when you compare her Sworn Signed Affidavit and the Motion prepared by the Defense and what her new lawyer is saying now..

Page 9 of Defense Motion
"the Statement made my Laura Buchanan says that she started searching before where the remains were found, worked her way along, and ended her searching beyond where Caylee Anthony was ultimately found. See Exhibit B. Such a search would naturally include the exact location the remains were ultimately found, contrary to the statement by TES."

VS what Buchanan's new lawyer Mr Cassidy said on Wednesday

"I believe she signed an affidavit that she searched the area where the body was found. Somebody may have suggested where the body was found, but she has never been to that area to see precisely where the body was," Cassidy explained."

Clearly a strategy to discredit the circumstantial evidence. They will note that the cell pings cannot be used to pinpoint KC's location with much accuracy (I believe the accuracy is, at best, 1200 meters, or 3/4 of a mile). They will explain away web searches.

The decomp evidence will be held up as sketchy science fiction. The evidence chain of possession will be questioned, re-questioned, and questioned again.

Prosecution witnesses will be cross-examined, of course. And remember that not one witness has ever said they saw KC be anything but a wonderful mother with Caylee.

And the defendant almost never testifies. JB will definitely keep KC off the stand.

Hi JWG!
This post I'm responding to is 2 years old but I did want to address the portion bolded by me. Other than CA or GA, do ICA's friends really truly know what constitutes a good Mother? I didn't before I had my own children. Not really.
It may be cool to have a cute toddler under foot during a party if that toddler isn't your responsibility, but it wouldn't be if your own toddler was at home with a baby sitter while you tripped over Caylee.
In all the interviews of ICA's friends I read, nobody ever asks them to clarify what a good Mother is, or does in their opinion. So.. I believe these wonderful Mother comments won't fly at all with a jury once the SA asks for a clarification or her friends starts answering 'I thought she was a good Mother at the time but I know more people with kids now and..... '
These people all thought she was a wonderful Mother who worked to support her daughter while her father was having mini strokes etc. What a martyr.

One great thing about a long delay to the trial is it gives some witnesses time to further mature and see things more clearly. JMO

Yep. They are hoping to browbeat someone into saying the wrong thing, or to find some attention seeking crazy person to say what they want to hear in order to see their name in the paper. And sadly, based on the parade of crazy that has shown up in this case so far, this isn't a farfetched goal.

Thanks for that quick reference...You are just amazing!

After having read the motion, I wonder if the prosecution is on to something. I wonder if they have found out about some sort of unethical payments or shady business (HA! and we all know how JB likes to throw around the word "shady").

Very interesting development...and just in time for the Status Hearing next week. JB & CM should be very nervous about now!

I think the status hearing may turn into a regular hearing, I hope HHJP would make ICA attend.

I think you're right about something funny going on too, it doesn't make sense how the defense had all these people calling TES volunteers with only 60 hours of PI time left, things that make you go hmmmm.

My OH My! What a fascinating change of events!
Something must be up, and it's not JB's IQ.

ITA!!
I'm wondering re the request for any and all videos made by the expert in conection to the case. If granted, does that open the door for the state to use all of Kobi's pro prosecution interviews on NG in their cross examination?
I love this motion. It seems we might get a full accounting of funds after all. In my best case scenario, LB has testified she was paid by an agent of the defense and DC has come clean. They can't release evidence that will prejudice ICA's right to a fair trial but they can expose the corruption that's kept that evidence surpressed.........or do I watch to much CSI type TV?? lol!

Does the defense have to produce statements and evidence collected if they do not intend on using it in the trial. I don't think they do. If they don't produce it to the prosecution, they can't use it. This might be a smart way to cut JB's "evidence" off...sort of like "produce it now or lose it."

Yes, I agree that's the hope.....but will ultimately prove futile. Why would "the attention seeking crazy person" wait two years to get their 15 mins :waitasec:

Then there is the all important credability factor.......Laura Buchanan has blown that for Baez imho. She was the basis for his so called "good faith" motion way back. Would seem Baez did nothing to check out her claims.
