Maria From Jakobsen, a 43-year-old psychologist from Frederikssund, about 45 km north-west of Copenhagen, have been missing since 26 October 2020, and was reported missing by her sister. Maria have two young children, 8 and 10 years old, and are married to a Lutheran priest in the Church of Denmark. Her phone, computer, and credit cards were left at home.
Her family have offered a reward on DKR 10,000 to those who help the police find Maria.

On 16 November 2020 Thomas Gotthard, the husband of Maria, was arrested as being suspected having killed her, after the police had found hydrochloric acid and caustic soda in the couple's home, and internet searches for "sea depths" and "oil barrels".
Thomas Gotthard was charged for the murder of his wife, even as the body hasn't been found, on 26 April 2021.
