Oh my. Yet again. A man goes missing near water after a night out.

I think I've read about 8 of these cases in the last 2 months....

Yes, I agree! It doesn't always tell us much about what's happened though - deaths in water seem almost equally to divide between suicides, accidents and foul play.

It sounds a little from the second link @StillDiggin posted as though he was walking around aimlessly for some hours, but it's not clear why. Was he lost? Drunk? In a contemplative funk? Trying to screw up courage for something?

I have other questions too. Did he speak good Danish? If something dangerous was unfolding around him would have understood? Why was he carrying a big heavy backpack? I thought at first he was newly arrived and in transit to his sister's but then realised he'd been there several weeks and was on his way back to hers after a night out. So why the big bag? Had he planned not to go home all along and packed some clothes or food? Aarhus is a container port afaik but are there any passenger ships? Could he have travelled on one, either legitimately, as a stowaway or against his will?

Lots of questions. Hoping for answers and good news soon.

Did you see Peter? Police release surveillance video of key witness
SBM

29-year-old Irishman Peter Burns has been missing for over a week. Police are now publishing a surveillance video of a male cyclist who saw Peter Burns shortly before he disappeared.

The video shows a cyclist - probably a younger man - who at. 02.53 repeatedly looking for Peter, who is walking somewhat uncertainly close to the harbor quay. The East Jutland Police would very much like to be in contact with that cyclist.

Did they received any information? Was the bike guy found to give any information? He was younger than Peter right. Do you think drugs were involved?

Questions: Why aren't private investigators used in Denmark? Why aren't there a money reward used in finding Peter?

That's sad news.

I noticed from the article linked that he was carrying all his chef's knives with him when he disappeared, plus what's described as a "heavy grindstone". Is that normal for chefs does anyone know, or would it be reasonable to wonder if he deliberately made his bag as heavy as possible before heading to the harbour? Because he'd been out drinking, I've been thinking up til now that he probably fell into the harbour accidentally, but the grindstone makes me wonder.

The article also says:
A spokesperson for East Jutland police told the Irish Sun: "Last week we did an extensive three day search in the harbour of Aarhus – unfortunately without result.
"Currently we have no plans to continue this extensive search in the nearest future, unless we receive new, specific information about where he might be.

"However, the local fire brigade have divers who often train in the harbour and we have asked them to continue to look for Peter when they are in the water."

A silver lining, I guess.
