Denmark - Two dead, 5 policemen injured in Copenhagen shootings, 14 Feb 2015

Well, one man's actions are not proof of the whole. There are plenty of "assimilated" persons of Muslim descent. I was arguing about it with a cousin of mine in Spain. But he said even those who immigrate later in life assimilate for the most part. He said women come totally dependent on their husbands but within a year they have their own bank accounts.

I know I saw in Holland two Muslim girls with head scarves out late- one at 9:00 pm, holding hands and cuddling with a guy on a park bench and the other at around 10:30 pm on the canal bank with a group of mixed friends, all joking around and smoking. Totally surprising to me. But illuminating. Thinking about it, my earlier emotional post on this thread is simplistic at best.

Most lone wolves in these countries are likely similar to our mass shooters or Timothy McVeigh or the mass murderer in Norway. Misfits. Losers. Criminals. Inadequate.

I know there are also the alienated immigrant, cosmic war (solidarity with a religious movement - "righteous" believers fighting in a war that's been going on since the dawn of time), poverty and disaffection issues to contend with that differentiate or motivate these particular murderers.

I dont know know the answers. Europe needs an immigrant population for labor proposes. But what happens when those born of immigrant parents aren't satisfied with their parents' lives? They feel caught between two cultures - not fully accepted anywhere and fully cognizant of the differences between them and others born in their countries. What happens to them? Those are the people ripe for radicalization.

There are huge cultural differences , those better educated will integrate into society but some people never will. Some obviously need support, ain't getting any. Others not even interested, they demand sharia laws, islamic face covering outfits and pray & praise 'allah' at public square. Muslims go far to protect their dogmas, young women been terrorized & killed by own family member for rebeling and for example dating a western guy or throwing veil away, known as 'honor killings'. Then there are 'virginity tests' and FGM and God knows what else.

Lastest estimate was perhaps 3000 Europeans have joined 'jihad' in Syria, (basically means ISIS, which is a brutal and super-violent gang), then Europe has a huge problem, nobody wants to deal with.

I can't disagree. 3,000 does represent a major problem. But, I want to steer away from casting all with the same brush. There are a lot of Muslims in Europe. Most aren't like this. But it is hard for me not to e prejudiced, frankly. I watched a news program which talked about an 8 year old boy, born in France, who said he refused to participate in the National moment of silence for the Charlie Hebdo victims because he supports ISIS. He was one of many young people refusing to participate in the moment of silence in France. His father was interviewed by the authorities, I believe, and expressed total shock and confusion. He said they are moderate Muslim family and believe that ISIS are terrorists.

Either the father is lying and not scary or he's telling the truth and that's even scarier. Moderate Muslim family can produce a child with that kind of thinking.

I'm just trying very hard not to be narrowminded and prejudiced and to understand that there are millions of Muslim families who live like anyone else in Europe. But it is hard. And both my parents, one from Spain and one from Holland, have expressed outrage and a lot of prejudiced about the Muslim immigrant population. Because of what they have seen happen to their countries of origin.

It is a difficult situation.

Gitana1,

Obviously, most muslims are peaceful.
But in their beliefs they are still very radical, compared to western culture which is very liberal. They do have difficulties to adapt.

We don't even want muslims or any other immigrant to lose their identity or deny their roots, but back home they may well trample on US flag. Arab/ Muslim propaganda is very anti-western, they considern western culture a threat.
Even most moderate ones have this blind hatred for Israel.
