Have any of us ever in our lives heard of anyone confiding anything to an employee, especially a MENIAL, who's not even doing a good job, either in real life news or in fiction books?

Seems to me Patsy would have noticed the woman was an extortioner, not even doing her job, but wanting extra money, just because she could see the R's had it. Also, she presumed to discipline the children for her own advantage instead of asking Patsy about it.

What a nervy employee! Patsy was way too kind to her, too easy-going, but she wouldn't have given her any damaging info she could have been blackmailed for. Patsy had at least that much education and common sense. Also, a married couple wouldn't act very intimate in the presence of others, even casual friends they don't know too well. The woman had no right to expect entertainment.

Yes, I have experienced it. Confiding in ones menial help is very common. A person may find it easier to confide in someone outside of their social circle where the norm is struggling to live up to some assumed standard and fear of failing. With the "help" a person can be their true selves.

You can bet your bottom dollar the maid will know more about what REALLY goes on in someones house than their friends & neighbors!

How do you know LHP didn't do her job properly? I don't recall reading anything said about that, but maybe I missed it.
When you say "also she presumed to discipline the children for her own advantage" are you talking about the time LHP hid Burke's knife so he couldn't whittle?
What do you mean "but she wouldn't have given her any damaging info she could have been blackmailed for"......what makes you think Patsy ever considered that LHP might blackmail her?? Patsy liked LHP, she employed her, trusted her with keys to their mansion, trusted her with her children, was willing to lend her $2000 at the drop of a hat.....
I don't think she expected entertainment Eagle, she was merely stating an observation she had made.

ST talks about the dust bunnies etc in the non-public parts of the house. My guess is she wasn't exactly a ball of fire when it came to cleaning. I think Patsy did like LHP although she apparently trusted every Tom,Dick and Harry with the keys to the house.

Not only the (clothes dryer?) lint on JonBenet's feet, but many other references to the expensive house being a pig-sty were made by various people.

Something tells me PR knew she was being ripped off, couldn't possibly have liked this woman. Patsy's not an idiot, though she did make some mistakes as everyone does.

Sure, everyone knows a maid or butler can observe a lot, and that they've been known-to write books (didn't Diana's butler?) and at times have been paid off. At least in TV shows. I couldn't name any specific case. I'm thinking PR knew it would get around if she didn't give the woman the extra money, would even have been told to her church, probably, and she was, we all realize, properly concerned with her image. Nothing wrong with that.

Does anyone have a picture of LHP in their saved links on this case?

Thanks

I don't know that LHP was a particularly bad cleaner. I remember hearing somewhere that one of LHP's jobs was to clean out Patsy's purses. Now, I have no idea how many hours a week LHP worked, but in a house that size, I would imagine that unless she worked there full time, it would have been hard if the whole house was her responsibilty. Especially considering we know that the kids could throw things on the floor and leave them there.
In the past, I have considered hiring a cleaner for just a few hours a week, to do the 'bigger' jobs like cleaning the bathroom and the floors, maybe the fridge and the oven. Stuff that requires you to get 'stuck in'. Perhaps she only had certain tasks, is what I am trying to say.

I don’t think anyone who was expected to come in and clean for a family of slobs is ripping off their employer! Burke was allowed to whittle anywhere he wanted to in the house. You saw JonBenet’s bedroom…it was a mess. Neighbors/friends were cleaning Patsy’s kitchen on the morning of the 26th. And you don’t think PHP earned her money? She probably had already earned the 2k she was asking to borrow, as well!

Why would you think the church congregation would know or care whether Patsy gave LHP a loan or not?

Patsy wasn’t just properly concerned about appearances, she was overly concerned, but that happens with the wannabes and the nouveau riche. Neither Patsy nor John came from “old money”. One of the reason’s Nedra thought John was a “catch” was because of the money potential for her daughter. Patsy had no idea how to deal with money – except to flaunt it, which is exactly what labeled her as nouveau riche! The old-money families didn’t talk about money. All of Patsy’s taste was in her mouth too…that was some ugly decorating in that ugly house – and it was all Patsy’s handiwork. There are ample examples of Patsy throwing money around. It certainly wasn’t the maid’s fault the family were piggies!

Great post Moab...couldn't have said it better myself!

Nedra complained to Patsy that LHP's job was to clean.... not to pick up after everyone. LHP even suggested Patsy buy a clothes hamper.

There is no way no how any one person can clean that McMansion three days a week. There are five full bathrooms upstairs that need cleaning alone. Vacuuming, dusting....the list goes on and on. LHP shouldn't have to spend most of that time picking up clothes, toys, etc...

Something a bit puzzling:

I told you I put it up at the top of the linen closet near JonBenet's bedroom when I confiscated it from him.

She's talking about the Swiss Army knife. But in an interview with police, she says that she was the ONLY ONE who knew where the knife was. She said she took it from Burke, hid it, but didn't tell Patsy where it was.

Is she lying now or was she lying then? Her story doesn't ring true at all.

Amen to that. Someone asked if we've ever had a picture of LHP. Maybe there's one at ACandyRose's archives? Also maybe the party group on the 23rd, one of the FWs' guests slightly resembling JAR? I haven't been there in a while, will try to remember to look.

It's certainly strange that LHP said she was the only one who knew where the knife was. There's something strange about each person we've discussed though. As if they may be somehow in it together. All are lying low, "covering up", it seems. Hm.....
