Six friends of Susan said she had told them about unwanted and inappropriate advances by her father-in-law, Steve Powell.

"She told me about a time when he had cornered her, and tried kissing her," said Debbie Caldwell, a woman who operated a day care center, where Susan and Josh Powell had taken their two little boys. "And that really upset her."

Another woman, Michele Oreno, said Susan expressed that "she felt uncomfortable around" Steve Powell, and "that he made sexual advances."

I don't know if SP had anything to do with Susan's disappearance but I do think that he is a person with a very disturbing past history with his children, which, if my suspicions are correct, could explain his adult children living with him and JG's behavior since Susan's disappearance.

I am really interested in your impressions and interpretations, particularly as concerns the past 'strange' relationship and why they would be living with the father yet today, with none working. Also how that influences Josh's behavior since Susan's disappearance. TIA.

Not only are they long divorced, Steven Powell forced her through long, protracted divorce and child custody issues. It was years before it was all done, and she was bankrupted. He is a dangerous control freak who will stop at nothing to get what he wants and hurt those who deny him.

The whole dynamics in this family, going way back is disturbing. Take for instance these quotes from Steve Chantrey web site. I'm just going to say if I was in this family, I would disown them and run as fast as I could. These people are off the wall.

At this point we have four generations, JP, Steve P, Steve P parents, Steve P Grandparents, doing things that are just not normal. And I truly believe the history of this family will continue with Susan's boys, the fifth generation, if they are left in that environment.

Seriously, who has all these grown adults living in their home, unless it was a dire emergency. Strange, Strange, Strange!

Here's a snip from Kiirsi blog post today about Josh's mom so she's alive it appears living in Utah.

When I had known Susan a few months, she began talking to me about why it is that she and Josh decided to move to Utah. There were several factors, she originally said…a better job…a new start…a chance to get to know Josh’s sister Jennifer Graves, and Josh’s mother, Teri Powell, better. Then one day she told me that a very big part of the reason she and Josh moved to Utah was to get away from Josh’s father, Steve Powell.

What I find as odd is that Josh goes running back to daddy's house the minute his wife disappears. After what Susan told Josh about him and how he treated Susan.

Mr. & Mrs. Cox REALLY should try and get custody of Susan's boys. They shouldn't be around someone with perverted ideas about right and wrong.

While Josh is on his own in the courthouse, wonder if Steve is frantically cruising the internet to see what people have found out about him and his NO LONGER secret past?

Wow, those Powell boys just love to hear themselves talk, don't they! I loved the line in Michael's declaration where he calls Phil McGraw (Dr. Phil) an "entertainer who plays the part of a psychologist" on tv. Is that even true? Is Dr. Phil not really a psychologist?

Michael is the brother who is perenially running for the Washington state legislature and perenially losing.

ETA: looked it up for myself. Yep. He is a real doctor. Guess I shouldn't be surprised that Josh's brother would make a snarky lie in his declaration.
