Discussion of the Transcriptions of the Testimony of Jodi Arias

No where did the poster post 'Breaking News.'

I think that should be left up to individual posters to decide whether they think it is a waste of their time or not.

There were some things new in the transcripts. I pretty much knew it would be a rerun but I did read them and don't regret it.

And frankly the information that she was into martial arts and owned her own sword when she was a teen was a surprise to me. Knives, her weapon of choice, be it for tires or ex-boyfriend. I am too glad I read it. Wasn't one of her favorite movies...House of Flying Daggers 2004 or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) or one like it?

Women with long knives....

Can anybody explain why Wilmott keeps talking about the past in the present tense? This is when she's having Jodi talk about her "miserable" childhood.

"What happens next?" (Not "what happened next")
"What are you doing in 1998?" (Not "what were you doing")
"Where are you living now?" (And so on)

It's really weird. Maybe it didn't sound that odd when you heard it live, but it certainly does when you're reading it.
I believe they have a "story" framed and JA keeps veering off course because she embellishes and gets lost in lies. JW is trying to get her back on track and make it seem like JA never matured beyond this time in her life. Make her seem younger, as this is in the present. Does that make sense? Somebody will say it better than I can.

The transcripts were posted in text form for the benefit of those that could not open PDF files. I have since deleted them so as to not mislead anyone. Thanks.

OH! OK then, so I did see what I thought I saw :-) I wish you had left them, I wanted to read them. Will you be putting them back? Could I ask why you deleted them?

OK, never mind, I see now why you deleted them. LOL at least now I know I wasn't seeing things that weren't really there.

I cant remember what one of her favorite movies was but that sure sounds right.

I did find that fascinating, SL. Usually it is boys who are attracted to some type of sword or knife. She seemed drawn to weapons at an early age. Strange.

She must think knives give her power, and truthfully, I guess in the end it did when she slaughtered Travis.:( Imo, she brought her favorite knife with her the day she murdered him.

I can just picture the demonic look on her face as she slashed Travis' tires.

She is sure one for the record books.

It is very unusual to be able to see or read the words of a psychopath in action. It is truly bone chilling to know people like Arias exist.

IMO

No idea, but my friend's daughter, who is now 29, was diagnosed about 8 yrs ago with BPD and I tell you, at 3 or 4 years of age her behavior and tantrums and drama were in full force, and far beyond the normal kid level. I remember her nickname used to be "Sarah Bernhardt" because there was always drama and lots of crying. It continued as she grew up. She's never held a steady job, she never finished college, she goes from boyfriend to boyfriend, living together. Sad. It's just not curable.

The "drama" is what stands out to me. If you listen to the beginning of the sex tape, JA keeps saying "not her drama" and Travis refers to "drama" a lot. Seems like he had called her out on her drama so many times and JA was trying to convince him that her stories weren't "drama."

O/T - it's sad that anyone would nickname someone Sarah Bernhardt when they clearly have a mental defect.

Thank you Hindsight for previously posting them as text files and most of us realize you had to use the "spoiler" method in order to do that (not that they were in fact spoilers), just that you had to use that method.

Most all understand.

Its frustrating to me when someone gets jumped on for helping us. You did nothing wrong and just tried to help us out.
THANK YOU

It funny how she has no normal emotions, yet she loves to overdramatize everything. (Compensation maybe?) She adds flowery adjectives all over the place, writing and talking as though she's doing homework for a HS poetry class. I always loved her description of how the picture of the kid in his undies wafted through the air. She could add "Ode to the Floating Kiddie 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Picture" to her next book of poetry.

And, the meanest, most demeaning thing he said was about Sandy's weight, even put an old picture up on the fridge. Were there other examples of his abuse. OH..the horror! (heavy sarcasm) IMO-JA wasn't hit hard enough in the head. (a tiny bit of sarcasm)

Prediction: JA will not get on the stand again. Her testimony will be thrown out and this phase will be over very soon. She WANTS to get back up on the stand but this strategy won't work with her scared e cat defense.

Or, Juan Martinez will use her prior testimony and annihilate this testimony. I can't wait.

Alyce called that abuse, and then came the blue domestic violence ribbons the same time as the Alexanders wore blue for Travis, and Nurmi and Wilmont wanted them to take them off so they wouldn't influence the jury. I'd like for the Juan to get Sandy or Bill on the stand and talk to them about coke and weddings gifts.

Well, despite what may or could happen: Jodi had her say in front of the jury. I believe the state has a right to cross examine her on that testimony. I will say no more.

I wonder why Nurmi is not asking the questions this time around. He's already gone through the material, questions during the first trial. He and JA must really not like each other right now.

She can see clearly now the fog is gone. Surprise Surprise. That fog never existed. I think she took pieces of last years trial that people never believed and tried to tweak it to try and make it more believable....but its not. She lied last year and she is lying now. And the first few pages did not show me remorse. She only wishes she could of done things differently, as in not getting caught.

Frankly, I personally think she was an uncontrollable brat growing up. She has no idea what abuse really is and that is why her abuse story is so shallow.

Her parents were probably relieved when she moved out.

In their police interview her dad said she was very abusive to her mother.

Now she tries to make her mother the abusive one. Another example of how she mimics situations and makes them her own by reversing roles from the victimizer to the victim. It also shows how easily she will throw anyone under the bus to save herself and is a trait of a psychopath. She doesn't care how many victims she leaves behind.

I think that is why her parents haven't testified. What they told the police about their abusive daughter would come out by Juan.

IMO

I understand how difficult it would be for Arias to be remorseful, or even to pretend to be. But she's going on and on about pedophilia and TA body slamming her and other things that did not really happen. Not that any thinking person is convinced she's telling the truth but she and her DT sure have put a lot of effort into these claims. Seems to me they could have better spent their time and efforts by hiring a drama coach for this killer and have that person teach her how to act, to convincingly pretend that she is sorry, and then utter the right words--the words that make her appear remorseful. Like the rest of her testimony it would not be true, but could sound good enough that one juror would buy it. After all, one did in the first trial. The drama coach could be someone with a degree in psychology or even be a social worker specializing in behavioral therapy--that way they could have met with the killer in jail.

OK, with all that said, I am glad they did not do this. I am just saying I cannot figure out why they didn't go a different route...unless they knew that with this particular judge, smoke and mirrors was the best way to go.

Or maybe they would not have been able to find a reputable therapist willing to be her coach.

Yes. And she herself has not put into words that she murdered Travis. She kept saying "I can't believe I had done that" when referring to the murder.

You'd think JA would have learned from her first 18 day BS session that mentioning that it was hard to live in your parents house "under their rules" makes her sound like a spoiled, whiney, entitled, brat. Then again narcissism does tend to get in the way of objective reflection.

In the interview with Bill , he tells Det. Flores that he told Jodi she could come back and stay with them, but he had rules and she wasn't going to stay up all night and keep them up and then sleep all day. She moved in with Grandma and pa and stayed up all night.

If Judge Stephens rules against Nurmi tomorrow regarding the prosecutor's misconduct, will he try and file a motion to find her incompetent to continue as the judge in this case ? Will he demand that the judge be given a psych test to see if she is psychologically stable ? Will he try and delay the trial until these tests can be performed on the judge ?

Sounds absurd doesn't it ?

Don't count it out.......I don't think he's played his last card yet.

No, it actually doesn't sound absurd to me. Nothing will surprise me in this case.

I imagine that a lot of these things didn't happen. Wilmott would also have rehearsed her story with her many times to keep it straight on the stand. I'm guessing it's a prompt for the answer they rehearsed, going to recent memory and keeping her there. If you try to make it up on the fly, generalise or hearken to a non-existent past, you will go off course. It's much easier to remember what you rehearsed fairly recently. She's being prompted exactly in the way she was prompted in preparation for the correct answer; it's a bit like classical conditioning.

That 'chaotic paper falling' statement was plagiarism. I forget just what book it came from, but a couple of years ago, I saw a site that quoted it's original author.
