Justin Canning and Charlie Hackett were very close.
After reading all the depositions, a part of me wonders, what lengths would a parent go to to protect their child?
Just a thought that keeps recurring in my mind after reading all the deps.
In a close knit community with generations long ties to LE (both Marine and SCPD), say an accident happens. A girl dies.
Who would want to see 2 young men's lives over? For what?
"Just some dead hooker?"
That thought keeps coming up.
What would I be willing to do as a parent if I found out my boy could go to prison? Insert myself everyway possible? Yes. Do irrational things that bring the focus onto me? Yes (bc I know I didnt do it). Muddy the waters with conflicting accounts with the father of the other boy involved? Yes. Two fathers. Two sons. A close community who watched these boys grow up. It's an "outside the box" thought - but a thought.

Just checked on the status of the case, looks like November 9, 2021 will be the next time anything might happen; October 12th there were adjournments until November 9, 2021.

I have a question, for anyone who might know. Now that Tierney is taking over from Sini, when does that actually happen? Does Tierney take over right away, or is there a specific date he gets sworn in?

On the 16th of November, as I understand it, the non-party SC must say why (through papers) the SG tapes can't be released. The letter to Sini (Exhibit) points out where Sini publicly stated that he would "support releasing the Gilbert call at this point in time," but also says, "It's not my decision any longer..."

So, we don't know whose decision it is to release the tapes to the public, an Order to Show Cause signed by the Judge on the SG case, and a November 16th date when a reply is expected.

Does anyone know if the adjournment will affect the November 16th date, or is that separate?

Does Tierney take over right away, or is there a specific date he gets sworn in?

Based on Sini himself having taken office on January 1st (of 2018), I think it's a probably a safe bet that Tierney will also take office at the start of 2022.
Timothy D. Sini was elected as the Suffolk County District Attorney on November 7, 2017 and assumed office on January 1, 2018.

Second question--how is this going to affect the SG case?

I think there's parties who will try to get Tierney to look into various matters, and there's reason to think Tierney might be proactive about doing that. It's also reasonable to think Tierney might not be shy about going after corruption that occurred mostly among people from the other side of the political aisle from him.
Also safe to guess that absolutely nothing will happen until Sini cleans out his desk, there's no percentage in it for Sini to get anything done at this point.

I don't really have a clue, but just looking at it - if an "index number" is a case number, then both documents refer to the same matter and nothing can happen until (at least) Dec 14.

Do you have a link by any chance? I've poked around the Frank McKay site once or twice, but I always get lost there--I can't seem to bring up stuff in chronological order, which makes the interviews harder to find (for me). Thanks!

If anyone shredded evidence, that would...be very unfortunate, and upsetting. I guess we all gotta hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. *shrug*

At least J Ray has the 911 call, to my knowledge, and is just waiting for the restrictions to be dealt with. I personally, see no valid reason that they shouldn't have been released, unless the possible perp was heard on the phone call, and it somehow ties in with all the LISK cases, and they need more evidence to possibly convict, or feel they need to keep it to protect themselves because it's one of their own (which would be super wrong to do, IMO). I dunno. That's the only reason I've been thinking about recently, if it would be some sort of valid reason. I'm sure others have said things along those lines, too. I'm totally speculating and just bouncing off ideas, it's still early here and I need more coffee! All MOO

Taryn Merkle [fed] interviewed the cops. those interviews were passed along chain of people, unredacted to burke. burke xeroxed and put the 302's on the walls of every police precinct to let cops know - that burke knows who said what to the Feds.

I want to make sure I understand.

I know Feds were kicked out during Burke's reign of terror, but have they come back? Are you thinking the Feds can't do anything, either, or they are in that huge net?

What do we have, if not hope for justice?

I've known my whole life that politics are dirty. My family is removed from that for a hundred plus years now, but there was a time in NYC when a person in my family was in a prominent position--and laws were made to thrust him out, and put in someone unqualified who greased the right palms, and rubbed the right elbows. He made his kids swear never to get into politics, and so it has gone down the line. So, in that case, I hold no illusions. I get it. Sometimes we get the lesser of two evils to choose between, and can only hope who is chosen is the one that can do the greater good. I haven't given up hope that the case will be solved. Yet.

Very interesting...and would make sense to protect their children. do you think that the boys were at brewer's party? We know JC was arrested in NJ for heroin, and it was multiple bags, so idk if he was a dealer. If BB trusted TC enough to call him for help, why would they not have their stories jive? So many questions...

I was shocked by the medications Hackett was prescribed all at the same time. Diazapam, ativan, morphine , oxycodone , actiq (which is fentanyl) and duragesic (also fentanyl). Why so many repeat medications ? If you are taking actiq why do you need duragesic ? If you are taking actiq or duragesic, why do you need morphine ? Likewise, diazapam and ativan acomplish the same thing...why would you ever need both ?

All I see here is a doctor with addiction issues that his fellow doctors catered to.

Or... a dr with an illegal side biz is a strong possibility. I had been trying to read more into the drug overdoses back then, too, but info is hard to find.

Possible that he embellished that list to present during polygraph pre-screen. That list of meds added to the heart condition he famously acted out in front of cameras, would disqualify him from polygraph testing while allowing him to ascertain that he was willing to be polygraphed.
