Sorry, incorrect thread, Julie Doe namus was removed, but it looks like she has not been identified her Namus removal is related to a Namus changes on all the transgender individuals (sad). I have checked the Gigo Beach victim Namus profile, known as an “Asian Doe”, no mentioning that they were a possible transgender, did Namus amend Asian Doe’s page already? Unidentified Person / NamUs #UP9355

“This work has been complicated by the fact that Jane Doe’s heritage is 100% Amerindian with ties to Guatemala and other Central American countries,” the DNA Doe Project said. Many of her distant genetic relatives were adopted, which further hampers the genealogy work.

“It’s a tough road building a family tree that traces back to Central America — the records are hard to access and the databases we use don’t have a lot of matches we can work with,” said Lance Daly, team co-leader on the Kilgore Jane Doe case. “We need more people of Guatemalan and Central American heritage to upload DNA profiles to GEDmatch, FamilyTreeDNA and DNAJustice.”

It’s back, and still mentions they were trans.

Monique Doe has been identified by the DDP as 48-year-old Monique Boggs from Detroit, Michigan. Her family knew her as Shirley Jefferson. Rest in peace Monique.

Monique Phoenix Jane Doe 1997 | DNA Doe Project

Updated list of the cases where Namus was removed but no official announcement was made. I think Peter Kalama Jane Doe’s profile was removed in 2022

1. Peter Kalama Ln Jane Doe 2013 (WA)

2. LaVergne Jane Doe 2007 (TN)

3. Yoctangee Park John Doe, 2022, Ohio

In addition, according to their threads two more Does were tentatively identified:
1.Del Rey Jane Doe 1984
2. Redbud Trail John Doe 1998 | DNA Doe Project

DNA Doe Project will assist in identification of the 1971 Tonti Train Wreck victim.

The DNA Doe Project, a charitable organization whose mission is to identify John and Jane Does, has agreed to take on the project. Executive Director Jennifer Randolph along with Anthropologist Amy Michaels will come to Salem to oversee the project at no expense. Once DNA Extraction is complete, the samples will be matched with genealogical databases in hopes of getting a match.

I have contacted the DDP, and they confirmed that these are two different cases. The John Doe identified by the Ramapo College Genetic Genealogy team is not the same as Pond Jane Doe from Granite State (also known as Concord Jane Doe).

Is there a thread for Tonti Train Wreck Doe on Websleuths? I found this description in the article I mentioned above. Sorry, it may be GRAFIC.

Then Deputy Coroner Gene Earl said at the time the identity was impossible to determine in any way, including age, sex, or race of the body, because it was badly mangled, nearly decapitated and stripped of most of its flesh. The unknown person was one of 11 killed when the train derailed.

How do I suggest a case to be worked on?

How do I suggest a case to be worked on?

From their FAQ page:

Q: Can we submit a case for consideration? What is the process for taking on a case?
A: DDP encourages case submissions from the public. Please email us if you have a case you’d like to see us work on.

Worth noting that if the case is a NamUs case the agency should contact RTI, which runs the NamUs program. They have funding and resources for many NamUs cases.

Also there are projects like Othram's Project 525, which have immediate funding for cases.

Crowdfunding is very powerful but if there are faster ways to fund cases, those avenues should be explored and then we can conserve crowdfunding for cases that truly have no assistance.

I had no idea on RTI having funding for cases that are in namus
