I can't believe how good Nation River Lady and Marion County John Doe are!
I'm sure this will get a really positive result here, Reddit though, I'm not sure, I think they're hoping for the moon.I hope I didn't "oversell" this! Just excited to show everyone the FTDNA high match!

Don't read too much into the "not available". It just means the spreadsheets I use haven't been updated yet. Also I have a hunch as to why some of these aren't shown! Specifically Allegan, Charlene and Pulaski Does![]()
I suspected she has been identified, but I was wondering if the Ontario LE will make a public announcement (I have read that it is not similar to the US where the crime victims are publicly identified, I believe I have read that in Canada it depends on a LE)I can't believe how good Nation River Lady and Marion County John Doe are!
I can see that, and with Marion, I suspect they may still be comparing DNA since he's relatively new on the spreadsheet.I suspected she has been identified, but I was wondering if the Ontario LE will make a public announcement (I have read that it is not similar to the US where the crime victims are publicly identified, I believe I have read that in Canada it depends on a LE)

All the hard work is done by the DNA Doe teams tracking down the matches. DDP has amazing volunteers! AND of course the biggest thanks goes to those who OPT IN for law enforcement at FTDNA and GEDmatch!OMG my heart is over the moon about the Sumter Does! THOSE FTDNA MATCHES ARE SO GOOD!!! Early Christmas present, for sure!
And thank you again Joan for putting so much time into adding the FTDNA matches and giving us more hopeMeans a lot
Thank you, Joan ! It is indeed very exciting, an amazing Christmas present! All the hard work is done by the DNA Doe teams tracking down the matches. DDP has amazing volunteers! AND of course the biggest thanks goes to those who OPT IN for law enforcement at FTDNA and GEDmatch!
I was also wondering why Grant Co John Doe and Adam Doe were not uploaded to FTDNA as they have very low matches on Gedmatch. But may be the status will change later...I really have to wonder what's going on with Kings County and Vernon County Does with such small results. I have to wonder if perhaps they're from out of the country.
My guess is that they're exhausting all options on GEDMatch before uploading there since they're still somewhat newI was also wondering why Grant Co John Doe and Adam Doe were not uploaded to FTDNA as they have very low matches on Gedmatch. But may be the status will change later...
Yes, I would think so about Adam, but Grant Co John Doe is active since August (as few other Does who were uploaded to FTDNA). Just wondering, may be his status will change later...My guess is that they're exhausting all options on GEDMatch before uploading there since they're still somewhat new
Thank you so much for all your hard work! Your explanations have clarified all my doubts.DNA Doe Project
Q: I notice your case spreadsheet Doe Upload.xlsx now has a row for the highest match at FTDNA. Why are some missing, and why do some need adjusting?
A: Our tireless Joan has taken the time to add the highest FTDNA match to each case where we have uploaded to FTDNA. Many of these numbers need adjusting, and she is doing those as she has time. The reason is that FTDNA calculates the total amount of shared DNA differently from other companies. In order to estimate the relationships correctly we have to make the amounts conform to what the tools expect. For some cases this can be a huge difference.
Not all of our kits have been uploaded to FTDNA. For some the DNA was too degraded. The coverage threshold required by FTDNA is higher than for GEDmatch. For a few promising cases we’re hoping to make an identification without using FTDNA since uploads cost us $700. For others we may just be waiting for the permission letter from the agency. And finally, several cases have actually been solved and are waiting for confirmation before they can be announced.
I just copied DNA Doe Project's Facebook post. I thought they provided a really good explanation of what is going on with the spreadsheet.Thank you so much for all your hard work! Your explanations have clarified all my doubts.
