Do you like the new format for WS?

No offense to the "powers that be" but these video "ads" aren't ads at all. One is an overhead video of a sailboat cruising beautiful blue waters and the other is a screaming ad that says "HAWAII TOP SURF SPOTS", and another is a picture of some potatoes, called "Potato Pros"

I dislike the new format, the information content on any page is very low, significant amount of empty space, so have to do endless scrolling, unpleasant to read.
Reading though this topic at one point there were only two lines of posting visible, the rest was just boilerplate or empty space.

Last night I went from one page to the next by clicking on the number at the bottom. When the next page came up, music and talking were blaring at me. By the time I found one ad, it was just finishing and another was loading. This was about in the middle of the page with two big square ads. It looked like some kind of violent ad where people were screaming. There was no "x" to stop it and then at the same time the ad beside it started and it was for the candy game. No "x" to stop it. So far my mouse had not gone near either ad. Then another one started and I went on down to the bottom and there were two squares and one was going. No way to stop it. I finally right clicked on it and said to open in another tab - which it did and it was quiet. Then I went up to that tab and "x"d it out. Got rid of that one. Went back up to the candy one which was still going and I did the same thing. At one time, I had three ads blaring at the same time and my mouse was not near them. Sorry I didn't pay attention to what the ads were. Now I can't even remember which thread I was on. It may have been the Ingrid Lyne one.

Now rethink what comes below it please. Perhaps simply list and link the most popular forums in that space, along with key trials.

2+ weeks in, for regular users of the site the top of the page has become an irritant. "Dr. Teresa Sievers was found brutally murdered in her home in Bonita Springs " 297 days ago now. To claim this is "trending" is at cross-purposes with the definition of trending. The rest, too, wastes space.

I'm sure its fine and that eventually I'll come to love it. But for now, NO i do not like it. But I don't take change well, of any kind, so don't take it personal.

It's a shame that "trending stories" get top billing, they already get a lot of activity. How about spotlighting some stories that aren't getting the same amount of foot traffic??

I think Tricia may have explained earlier that WS has many more guests than members visiting the site at any given time. So the trending stories section is to help the visitors find what they are probably looking for more quickly. It's not focused on members who know what they are doing. The numbers are now posted at the top of the page and it's amazing how many more guests than members are here. As I'm typing it's 343 members and 877 guests. Wish they would join! I'd like to see a message saying "visitors please join us" or something.

Sounds good, I guess I just like variety and it seems like the same stories are trending day after day. I, myself, wouldn't even venture into any of those threads with the amount of information already posted, for fear my info would just be duplicate, nor could I spend days reading past posts just to get caught up.

One thing I have learned..... NEVER make your home in Bonita Springs coz things may get BRUTAL!

I'm having trouble with the search feature. I have searched stories/news I've seen on reputable sites and normally I come to WS and there is already a thread. With a couple of recent stories since the forum change, nothing via the search. In addition, while I don't like the new "look" and massive amount of white/bright space, I have loved WS since I first discovered it, and will always be a faithful member.

Just my opinion. Thanks for this thread!!!

I actually really like the new 'look' and do not mind the new format all - however, - I am not so keen on the lag and constant crashes. Nor do I like the constant all the sudden the page is scrolling itself, or at odd times suddenly cannot scroll back or ahead. I have adjusted settings, on the computer, chrome, etc, and it has not helped it a bit. I wish this would get fixed or go back to the old format. I find myself logging on less and less as it's insanely frustrating.

Right now three ads on Children's Health running.
All in the big squares.
They keep looping and running again without touching them.
The screen is also jumping to the bottom.
It's hard to type this because the screen keeps jumping to the bottom.
Just started this today.
I'm on a HP desk top computer.

I'm on an iPhone today, and have video ads auto playing. It's going to use up my mobile data very quickly if it keeps up. I'm not touching the ads. ETA They are "ads by sekindo"
