Docs Released Today - PDF Techie Help?

  • #21
I have the full version of Acrobat, and according to the Security setting, there is no restriction on anything. Printing, commenting, etc. should all be allowed.

So why can't we highlight or comment on these pages? Probably because the originals were paper documents that were photographed and then made into PDF files--in other words, the originals weren't text files, they were image files.

Images in PDF cannot be highlighted; highlighting and commenting only work on text. And most of these files are not text. I hope that makes sense, but I've been working in PDFs for 10 years and I'm fairly certain that's what the problem is.

If I'm wrong, I'll be thrilled. I'd love to index these files myself. Please let me be wrong!!! :)

I don't know much about PDF files, just know I can't copy what I want and paste it! :(

I would love different forums of each witness and their testimony so we can go into detail about the statements.

These are image files. Can you guys not see the little yellow sticky type note thingy? {hows that for tech} You can't copy and paste, but there is a comment thing I can bring up and type into.

We see it, we just can't type into it.

Thanks tho! You were awesome to help out. I think Ms. Patty just went ahead and typed out Casey's statement.

If you have MicrosoftOffice Onenote2007 you can open the file in Adobe Acrobat (not the reader, the full version) and Click on file - then click Print - When the print box comes up - Click the drop down box to select printer and choose *Send to onenote2007. The file will open up in OneNote and you can comment in there. Just click next to the line you want to comment on and type away...

Also, if anyone is interested I extracted individual PDF files for easier viewing. Particularly, The second Document was a mess... It is much easier for me to reference this way.

You're welcome.

And I must say, Ms. Patty is a better woman than I. Typing it out!

They are definitely image files, but you can use I downloaded them this morning.
If you have Acrobat writer, you can:
Go to Documents/OCR Recognition/Recognize text using OCR

It will scan the entire document. When finished you can go to:
Tools/Advanced Editing/Touch up text tool

You can highlight the text and copy and paste to word or here. I am looking to see if there is a way to export it to Word.

It worked... I have it in a word file. Some remains an image, but it looks like the majority of it is now text...

I was just wondering if anyone else happened to notice that in the latest documents released, on page 25 titled "Recent Photograph of child" this picture is Dated as being from 5/31/08..... yet in this picture Caylee is in same clothes & at same place / same room, sitting at the same table, with same hairstyle, same sippy cup, same white envelope [half hidden under coloring book open to page of cat] on the table as everything in the video of Caylee reading the book [on the helpfindcaylee site] which is alleged to be a Father's day video from 7/15/08? & the envelope on the table in front of her [in the video of Caylee reading the book] doesn't say "Happy Father's Day".... It reads "Happy Birthday Dad!".......
just curious....
