DOES ATLANTA HAVE A SERIAL KILLER AT LARGE?

The city holds a deadly secret: Someone’s been hunting, strangling, and murdering women, dating back to 1970s. A homicide cluster revealed that Atlanta is hiding some of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history. These murderers never been caught, and their crimes left cold. More than 130 women were strangled or asphyxiated to death, spanning more than four decades. Most of these murders occurred within metro Atlanta— with nearly 100 reported as unsolved to the FBI.

The victims of Atlanta’s unsolved murders now live only as zeros and ones on a computer hard drive in Hargrove’s home office in Alexandria, Va.
The Hunt | Atlanta's hidden serial killers

Dear Websleuths Members,

Here is an article featuring our member Thomas Hargrove and his Murder Accountability Project.

I have searched and couldn't find any discussion thread about this topic. If there is already a thread please alert and we can merge them.

What do you think? Do you think there is a serial killer in Atlanta?

We would love to hear your thoughts and idea

Investigating Atlanta's unsolved murders
"Finding commonalities between victims is a process called "victimology," and it enables detectives to see if victims might be linked to one common offender.

Arntfield explained that some of the victims share more than one commonality. Many of them are African American sex workers between the ages of 13 and 30 — a minority group of women that is statistically more at risk when it comes to violent crimes. Beyond a predisposition to risk, the CCS is searching for more connections.

Both Qamili and Arntfield speculated that they’re dealing with more than one serial killer.

Qamili explained that serial killers generally tend to be consistent in their patterns of behaviour. For example, a serial killer who focuses on elderly victims won’t usually go for a young victim, and certain killers pose their victims meticulously as though they’re leaving behind a signature. Qamili and Arntfield believe that four or five serial killers may be responsible for the 130 homicides that occurred.

One group within the larger cluster consists of a small number of senior women who were all found in the same areas and in similar housing conditions, like apartments that had poor security.

“In such situations, we can pretty much conclude that it was one serial killer for that cohort,” Qamili said. “It is very unlikely for one serial killer to be so all over the map.”

Qamili speculated that it’s possible that some of the serial killers, especially those that were active in the 2000s, are still active today."

The Atlanta child murders for one , one of the creepiest SK stories of the South, had the whole city under siege and terrified. Remember how it was solved with carpet fibers?

More than 130 unsolved strangulation and asphyxiation murders of women...well of course these are serial killings. Some are old women ..others? it would help to know the
demographic of the victims, my guess is these are sex workers mostly, because there seems to have been no urgency around these killings over the years to solve the cases.

Wonder if there is something about that area that makes it a good place to operate.

like the Seattle Sea Tac area with the major truck route and all the deep forested hidey holes..Or California where there are so many small towns with their own police departments and a smart killer ( Golden State) can easily move in and out and al around without being discovered, maybe it's jurisdictionally convenient.

I want to hang on this thread, thanx for starting it.
