A dog digging in a Missouri backyard has uncovered skeletal human remains, according to police.

The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) said officers were alerted to reports of human remains being found at a home in the 5600 block of Paloma at about 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The google streetview poor neighborhood. There does look to be at least one older home, so perhaps an old farm burying ground. I doubt it, but maybe.

Van Brunt and I-70, basically. As mentioned above, this is a poor area with high crime (which unfortunately applies to virtually anywhere between Troost and the Blue River). Terry Blair's stomping grounds were about two miles to the northwest of this location.

Without a better description, there are too many cases in the area to narrow down much, but there is one case directly related to Van Brunt; albeit a very cold one:

I wonder if any of this is related to that nutjob who had an emaciated woman escape from his basement. Scary.

Different part of town, about a forty-five minute drive to Excelsior Springs per Google Maps, imho unlikely.

Vacant lots between most of the houses, any of the lots might have had brush or tall weeds recently.

A zip code with a high poverty rate, indeed.

The Kansas City, Missouri police department have new details in a homicide investigation following the discovery of human remains in October of last year.

KCPD received has finally received medical examiner results on the remains, which were found in a backyard in 2022, and confirmed the death as a homicide.

Police have identified the remains as belonging to 53-year-old Sirrena S Truitt.

The cause of death is not being released at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. KCPD did not say how long the Truitt's remains had been in the backyard before their discovery.

Medical examiners have ruled that a woman whose remains were found in a shallow grave in a Kansas City backyard died by homicide.

Sirrena Truitt was found Oct. 30 after a caller alerted police that his dog appeared to be digging up skeletal remains behind his residence on the 5600 block of Paloma, according to Sgt. Jake Becchina with the Kansas City Police Department.

The details of Truitt’s death have not been released, and the investigation is ongoing, Becchina said.

Truitt, who would’ve turned 53 in June, was last seen in March, according to an article from the Washington Post. David Finnell, Truitt’s stepbrother, told The Post family members had been pushing Kansas City police for months to open an official missing person report after they heard from other relatives that Truitt had been murdered.
