Doner children demand to be told parents' IDs

I think this is an excellent solution but I also think that the donor should have to update medical issues they may have over the years..

Really if you do not want to deal with a possible off spring then maybe you should simply not donate.

And this will probably be the decision made by most prospective donators thereby throwing future hopes for donated sperm into hopelessness. i think the program will eventually be ended when donators are appraised their anonymity is not guaranteed.

medical science will have to come up with something else to help those unable to procreate without donation help.

Or maybe people will be forced to care for one of the millions of children already here and orphaned.

A genetic pre-disposition to a disease does not mean that you will ever get a disease. And lack of a genetic predisposition does not mean you won't get it. Most breast cancer patients DO NOT have a first degree relative who developed breast cancer, for example. For many diseases, obviously there are some exceptions, but for most it really is a crapshoot. All the medical histories in the world won't help you if you happen to be the one who gets a particular disease. It might make you more vigilant and to get screened earlier when there is a better chance of a cure, but honestly, there are just some things in life that we won't know about until they happen. Life is just like that.

The donor has the right to remain anonymous, absolutely.

However, I believe that for medical purposes, the donor firm should release the name if it is imperative to the child's health or important for diagnosing something. And even in that case, if handled correctly and carefully, the donor's name could probably remain anonymous. (p.s. this may already be the cast, but if not, that's by 2 cents!!)
