For more than a quarter-century, the Maund family of Buffalo searched, scanning the landscape everywhere they went for two familiar faces.

Twelve-year-old Donnalyn Maund, one of 14 siblings, ran away in 1973. Another sister, 15-year-old Diane, ran away in 1976. Neither has been heard from since.

"They're out there. I got that feeling inside," said their sister Joyce Weber. "All we want is to know that they're OK."

The high-profile search for Chandra A. Levy, the government intern who vanished from Washington at the end of April, has captured the interest of people all over the country.

But overshadowed are the more than 98,000 other missing children and adults across the country, some of whom -- like the Maund sisters -- haven't been seen in years, according to FBI officials in Washington.

Interesting. Were Donnalyn and Diane twins? If Donnalyn was 12 in 1973 and Diane was 15 in 1976 then they are the same age?

I’m not sure, I thought that as well though

Is there anything else available about either of them? Edited: The only newspapers dot com results I can find specific to the sisters are for this same article.

I can't find anything for either of them on Ancestry, only for what I presume are relatives of theirs.

Their hope for answers rose again when a family member saw a March episode of "America's Most Wanted," about the body of an unidentified female found in Williamson County, Texas, in 1979. The police sketch resembled Diane.
When the family talked to a Williamson County sheriff's detective, an identifying mark on Diane's left index finger appeared to match a mark on the victim. Weber's brother Ronnie Maund sent to the investigator photos of Diane, but the detective's recent departure from the department has slowed the case.
Sounds like family believed that she may have been 'Orange Socks' (Debra Jackson)

After this and the possibility that her photo was found in David Collin’s apartment, her case seems to have gone dormant. And there doesn’t seem to be any information regarding her sister’s disappearance from three years prior. I can’t even find the exact day Diane disappeared so all we know is it happened sometime in 1976.

I was able to find the publication of the photos found in Collins’ apartment. The image in the previous articles labeled “Diane Maund” is the same as the unidentified female, #23. FWIW

Can anyone try to find pictured of the sisters in a yearbook?
Weird that they didn't provide actual pictures for the articles.

I can’t find anything either.

I was able to find what I believe to be their birth announcements. This article helps confirm Diane’s. ETA: This obituary contains several of the siblings mentioned in previous articles.

Donna was born 1 Sept 1960:

Diane was born 20 Jan 1962:
