Huge question but first GREAT post! I thought the threat of suing bolder was the only reason Mary Lacey exonerated him.
Here's my question: If John and Patsy were exonerated, then can they never be charged in the crime now? Or is it still open to where they can have charges brought on them? I that BR can't be arrested due to his age at the time of the crime. Statute of limitations have also ran out. UNLESS JR was the killer. I still don't think he did it though.
They are not cleared.

I tried to take some notes as I watched Dr. Phil's 'impromptu' episode. I quit about half-way through because I was just disgusted but I intend to finish watching it eventually.

- How rich that Dr. Phil goes on a media tour to tell the world that Burke's affect is "atypical" and his smiling at inappropriate times will interest people greatly then acts like anyone who thinks there's anything the slightest bit odd about it is stupid. He also says that he doesn't find Burke's "nervous smiling" weird because he's spent months getting to know Burke.
a) What? Months?
b) After all that time together, Burke still isn't comfortable enough talking to Dr. Phil to not smile nervously the entire time?
- Burke makes the statement that he wants people to focus on finding "the real killer" instead of making up "bogus" theories about him and his parents.
- I'm still confused about when this was filmed. Dr. Phil even seems to present it as something that was just thrown together after the specials were so popular, which logistically makes no sense. He also throws in some questions asked on Facebook. Was that from the Q&A from the other day, or did he have people ask questions on Facebook a while ago?
- Ooh, still trying to sell the basement window as an entry point! Now my blood is boiling because it's just stupid. Both Phil and Katie Couric (in the Lou Smit clip) make it sound like the reason the BPD discounted the window was because a person "couldn't get in there." DP says with a laugh that we just watched a 60-year-old man slide right in. No mention of the spider web, aka the real reason the BPD thought no one came through that window. Whatever, they might as well milk it for now. CBS has that spider web covered.
- lol, now he's bragging about what a "hard-edged" interrogator he is and says people asked why he didn't "crossexamine" Burke. DP repeats for the thousandth time that Burke wasn't a suspect, that's why. I'd suggest a drinking game where you drink every time DP says BR was never a suspect, but 13 minutes in and I'm already afraid I'd die of alcohol poisoning. He says Burke's answers are short because he doesn't know much and his memory has decayed.
- He points out LW was present for JR's interview, but only because he was interviewing both of them about the same thing; JR didn't request it.
- DP's explanation of the DNA is so muddled I'm not even going to bother. It's about 16 minutes in though. He says something about how the police got the "exonerating" DNA evidence within two weeks (of the murder?) but didn't give it to the DA's office for 7 months. Then he skips ahead to Lin Wood writing a letter to Mary Lacy, them having a "secret meeting" where she told him she agreed the Ramseys "had been targeted by the Boulder DA an it was getting out of control. This led to an -unprecedented- act." Then there's a clip of JR saying the 2 weeks thing, and LW saying he told Lacy that he would sue the city of Boulder if the case wasn't transferred to a "third party, objective, competent law enforcement agency". How does the BDA fit that bill?
DP asks LW and JR if JR has been "scientifically" exonerated and LW says, Yes.

Aaaaand that was when I couldn't take it anymore.
You'll need more liquor to get through it. Try taking a shot every time he says Burke is just nervous instead. I'm going to rewatch Burke's interviews and take a shot every time he smiles. 🍸

If you take a shot every time he smiles, you will just be chugging an entire bottle of Tequila by the time it is halfway through...

Right you are. Change of plans, I'll take a shot every time he stops smiling.

Reading through this thread, I've seen many things being stated as if they are fact, and not a single link to back these statements up. Patsy said she used a flashlight to check on JonBenet? I've never heard that before. Patsy's dna was found on the pineapple? That's news to me.

Do we no longer provide links to back up what we state as fact?

DP's FB page is doing some major damage control this weekend. I suppose it's ramped up in honor of tonight's CBS program? Reminds me of some of Pat Korten's antics back in the day. Who needs Korten when you've got DP and LW?

You did better than I did DFF. I quit watching after five minutes (if you don't count commercials).

Wow, more money rolling in for the Ramseys. I bet they get a pretty price for the iEnquirer interview.

Here's my reply on another thread for you!

If any of you are following Kyron Horman case:

The 2-Part Dr. Phil interview with Terri Horman will air next Wednesday, September 21st and Thursday, September 22nd. Be sure to check your local listings for the correct show times in your area.

I know it's Dr. Phil.... will be interesting to "see" how he treats her...

Also, the CBS Special on JonBenet Mystery is TODAY Sunday, Sept. 18th.

I just can't imagine that John or Patsy would give Burke a pass if he killed his sister.

Neither can I as I previously posted. He wouldn't have gone to jail for it, but they could have, and would be making themselves the obvious targets of the investigation.

What's wrong with this website? I have to type letters several times to appear and sometimes I hear a "ding" and get shutdown?

All I remember about the flashlight is that the Ramsey's claimed they never saw it before?

Thanks, I have always followed the case but it seems hopeless. Hard to believe she didn't have anything to do with it but where do you go from there?

Has anyone ever questioned the Ramsey's about why they were apparently not in an absolute panic, or supposedly did not even ask WTF, when 10am came and went and there was no phone call from the kidnappers? Did they ever comment on this? Is there any reason to doubt Linda Arndt's statement? To me, this is the single biggest psychologically based circumstantial evidence in the entire case. It is INCONCEIVABLE that they actually believed she had been kidnapped yet were not waiting for that call to the exclusion of everything else?

Thanks! Well, someone already linked you to the new DA saying he wasn't legally bound by ML's 'exoneration' but yeah, the exoneration letter was more of a symbolic act than anything else. She just happened to throw it out there a few months before her term ended as a last-ditch attempt to help out the Ramseys since she wasn't able to pull an intruder out of her hat. And it certainly came in handy in 2013 when the grand jury indictments were leaked - every report on it ended with, "but the Ramseys were cleared in 2008." It's good PR, basically. Also, the exoneration wasn't link to Lin threatening to sue Boulder. That threat was in 2003, and it resulted in the BPD "giving" the case to the BDA. In 2009, the new DA Stan Garnett returned the case to the BPD.

Depending on what the charges were, they probably could still be charged. There's no statute of limitations for murder. But they weren't indicted on murder charges, it was child abuse resulting in death and covering up. I think I read those indictments have run out and a new gj would have to be convened. I'm not a legal eagle though.

Anyway, sadly, I doubt anyone will ever be prosecuted, much less charged.

Mountain_Kat: It wasn't DNA. Patsy's fingerprints and Burke's were on the pineapple bowl. That is well sourced if you google it, I'm afraid I don't have time to do that right now. That's been out for a while. The flashlight thing is new based on these Dr. Phil interviews, and it was DP saying JOHN used the flashlight to put Burke to bed, with the implication that John told DP he did that. Burke does not deny it. That's all we have for that afaik.

Tonight starts the CBS series. I've got my DVR set. Can't bear watching live TV as I have to be able to FF through the commercials.
