:seeya:

Just had a thought after reading your post :

And IF the jury remains standing and recites the Pledge of Allegiance, I'll be joining you !

Good Morning ... and THANKS for the updates !

:please: Hoping today is a good day !

LOL! Are you the poster who is reading 'Runaway Jury'? I'm reading it too and that is about the part that I am at right now! :floorlaugh:

Defense begins CIC [ :floorlaugh: ] sorry! But it WAS funny!

Week 5:
Day 17, Monday, August 27th: Defense - 4 / Prosecutors - 6 / Judge - 4 // Total: 14
Jurors out: 5 times

Witness: 6
Mary Ponarelli (neighbor)
Bryan Falat (ISP Master Sgt)
Joseph Steadmann (Ins Adj.)
Joseph Basile (FBI Spcl Agent-Chicago Office)
Bob Sud (BPD)
Darrin Devine (ISP Spcl Agent)

no: Harry Smith (yet!) or Thomas Peterson...

Defense attorney Joel Brodsky laid the blame for the delay squarely on the prosecution.

"That's embarrassing," Brodsky said. "They've spent how many millions on this case and they're stumbling around like amateurs."

Another of the defense attorneys, Steve Greenberg, said prosecutors are "doing the best with what they have," distancing himself from Brodsky's statements.

Brodsky later complained in court about the trial's slow pace and was quickly dressed down by Judge Edward Burmila.

"I don't think you want to start delineating who delayed this case more," Burmila said to Brodsky.

No, I don't think Brodsky wants to start that - considering Defense has 71 out of 160 Sidebars so far... :what:

Drew killed her during the night according to Stacy seeing him with the laundry. His son would not have known. And the poor kid has lost his mother and now might lose his Dad. I am sure he believes in him.

Maybe he does not believe him. His stepmother didn't believe him either, but she sure did lie for him. And when she wanted to rectify that lie, she disappeared and is presumed dead, at the hands of Tom's father.

Maybe Tom has been coached in the manner that SP was coached. Maybe Tom (very admirably) keeps focused on his schoolwork because it helps him keep his sanity til he can escape his horrible position. He's been a prisoner of Drew's just like everyone else who's ever known Drew. He's nice to you until you cross him.

I'm looking forward to seeing Tom when he's in his 40s. I hope he is happy and at peace in his own skin then. Until then, I can't blame him for playing Drew's game.

Thank You Niner. I love your data filled posts. :tyou:

Mary Ponarelli (neighbor):

Expectations were high that the DT was going to tear this woman apart, totally impeaching her credibility.

In actuality, they got next to nothing. She was very cooperative and admitted that Drew was a very good neighbor and was nice and funny and she never saw him hit or mistreat Kathleen.

In Session The witness is shown a photograph. “Do you remember how high up that tub is?” “No.” “What did you do?” “I braced my arms on the rim of the tub and I touched Kathy. I touched her back and felt her hair was wet, and seen [sic] the cut she had on her head.” “Possible you moved her head a little one way or the other?” “No, I don’t believe I did.” According to Mrs. Pontarelli, Savio “usually” had her hair up in a clip when she was about to bathe. “Did Drew seem upset that night?” “He seemed worried . . . he seemed upset.” “Did it ever seem as if he was faking it?” Objection/Sustained. “Would you know if he was being sincere?” “I’m not sure.” The witness is then asked about her hearsay hearing testimony, which Greenberg starts to read. Objection. The judge calls the attorneys to a sidebar.

“Would you have told the police if you thought he wasn’t being sincere?” “Yes.” “Kathy was a fighter, right?” “Yes.” “Do you know what she was like?” “Yes.” “Know what her temper was like?” “Yes.” “Did you ever see her with any red marks around her neck?” “No.” “IN the fall of 2003, did you ever notice her wearing clothing that appeared to be concealing an injury on her neck?” Objection/Sustained. “Did you ever notice any injury to her neck in the fall of 2003?” “No.” “Do you have any indication how she would react?” “She would defend herself. She’s tough. She wouldn’t let anyone hit her without fighting back.” That ends the direct examination of this witness. There is no cross, and so the witness is excused.

The above is almost the only real testimony any witnesses put forth today. And it really did not hurt the state's case much, imo.

Bryan Falat (ISP Master Sgt)

In Session The witness and the jurors are returned to the courtroom. Brodsky resumes his direct examination of Sgt. Falat. “You not only interviewed Stacy, with Drew Peterson in the room, but Drew Peterson was also interviewed previously, in the police station?” “Yes.” “Did you see any marks on him, as if he’d been in a struggle?” “No.” “You didn’t see any scratches on his face?” “No.” “You didn’t see anything to indicate he’d been in a struggle?” Objection/Overruled. “No.” “Did anybody ever say anything to you about Kathy sleeping with a knife?” “No, Sir.” “Did anybody say anything to you about Drew Peterson breaking into Kathy Peterson’s house and holding her at knifepoint?” “No, Sir.” “And they knew you were investigating the death of Kathleen Savio?” “Yes.” That ends the direct examination of this witness.

Again, not a lot of tough or memorable testimony. It fell kind of flat.

Joseph Steadmann (Ins Adj.)

THIS GUY WAS A BONUS FOR THE STATE. His testimony was a gift. Essentially he told the jury that Drew cashed in on a million dollar insurance payout, which was for the kids, but he was the guardian.

Joseph Basile (FBI Spcl Agent-Chicago Office)
Bob Sud (BPD)
Darrin Devine (ISP Spcl Agent)

I cannot even remember what any of these other guys said, but it was nothing important, IIRC.

Jeanine Pirro ‏@JudgeJeanine
Prosecution rests in #drewpeterson. Judge denies motion for directed acquittal. Defense case begins. Jury and bailiff all wearing jersey

Bailiff ? :what:

From what I read earlier - it is the Baliff who started all this "dress-coordination"!! :maddening:

#drewpeterson. Bolingbrook cop Rob Sud on stand for defense, went to Savio home on night of death, describes scene..

Sud was called to the Savio home the night she was found. Says when paramedics found no vitals, he and another officer secured scene.

Sud: doesn't remember seeing a blue towel near Savio's tub

Sud says he doesn't recall if a blue towel was on the tub or not.

Sud says #DrewPeterson was "visibly upset." [ Big freakin deal..]

And what's up with this?? :waitasec: I thought the Defense didn't want to bring up this blue towel??!!

Yes, thank you, ~n/t~, katydid23, and Jackson44! You three are so appreciated!!!

:gthanks:

:yourock:

and I see we have another :newbie:

:welcome5: smeck

He was only 11 when his mother was found dead. He has had to side with his father for his own survival. I have nothing but sympathy and understanding and love for him in my heart.

And there is nothing he can say on the stand that will help Drew in any way.

I think people will hate Drew for putting his young innocent son in the middle of this horror show.

I totally agree! Especially since this murder likely happened in the night when Tom was asleep, involving him in the trial outs Drew as the despicable subhuman that he is. I can't believe his defense team will allow it! Maybe they are throwing Drew under the bus at the last minute because even they don't want him loose on the streets. :what:

[What has the jury learned today...That Drew received a million dollars that he could use to raise his children, BY HIMSELF..no more custody battles and no more child support to pay...and the house was his free and clear...WELL DONE BRODSKy...thanks...]

And Drew also did not have to split his pension with her.

win...win... for drew all the way around.

A million dollars brought in vs. monthly child support payments = lots of toys during mid life...oh my

my opinion...

Did DP get his ultralite plane after the $1,000,000 was paid to his 'boys'? I'm thinking alot of what DP acquired came from that $$$. His motorcycle...Stacy's motorcycle...ultra-lite plane! Hmmmmm. I'd sure like to know how much of the million that Kathleen died for is still there.

GodseyG: I really hope they call Tom and admit the letter he wrote to Michael Sneed in 01....

Does anyone know what that refers to?

Ooooo...I wonder if they bring Thomas to the stand, if that would 'open the door' for that letter. :please: I think it was a letter asking if Santa could bring him one thing, would he please stop his father from hurting his mother. Yeah, bring it on, DT! :floorlaugh:

what an interesting day this has been.. lol

I would love to know how DP is feeling about now .. hahaha

I hope he is feeling like he'd better take the stand! Go on, DP, let's see if you have the gonads!

The defense has been bringing up the blue towel nonstop. I have no idea why. lol

Ooooooooooo, wow. This just turned my stomach, but no doubt that's true. How sad could this be? I hope he has to account for every cent & prove every luxury item he owns came out of his own pocket! How vile can one man be...

:whip:

Frankly, I'm certain he was very upset! I'm sure DP fully expected Kathleen's boyfriend would be the person to discover her. I would bet he was in quite a quandry when no one had found her by Monday, & had to figure out a new plan in a big hurry! Therefore, he makes call after call to make it appear he had become, at the very least, curious as to her whereabouts. I love that there's been several witnesses now that said he told them it was Mary P who was concerned about KS, since they have all testified it was him who asked for a locksmith & have them go in & check on her! At the same time, I have been wondering about all of the short calls he made that that day, including to KS's boyfriend. Are we to understand he was unable to reach him? Does anyone remember what he said he was doing on Sun. & Mon? I think he took his motorcycle out one of those two days, but am I the only one who finds it a bit strange that had he not heard it, he would have at least returned the call's? I do, however, seem to recall that someone on IS said he had been checked out & had a solid alibi...anyone?

Bold mine

I doubt if DP will ever have to account for any expenditures he has made...after all, we have a judge that thinks that all the money that DP would gain from killing Kathleen is irrelevant. *rolleyes*

I have never heard of this!!! Link please!

Katy, the only thing that I think may have hurt the prosecution regarding MP's testimony is she mentioned Kathleen would fight back. We know she had bruises on her body. Would those be consistent with a struggle? Nothing else was out of place. I know the suspected murderer probably cleaned up anything that was out of place but still the jury may question that part. IMO

Good Morning all!

It's just heartless to do that to him. :tears:

Ok everybody, tomorrow I will be wearing floral pajama bottoms and a teal top, and grey bathrobe. I will be in it all day. One for all and all for one. Lets all be matchy-matchy like the poor pop-tarts and the idiotic DT Lopez's.

:floorlaugh:

I'm losing what mind I had left.:seeya:

abbie:banghead:

:bedtime::offtobed:

:moo:

Good morning all!

Well! I have on teal lounging pants, a lighter teal tank top, and a white cotton top. We will match, lol, and I do think we are united in our thoughts of this mess.

I'm going nuts too so you are not alone! I can't wait to see what BS is thrown today.
