In Session “You did not perform this autopsy pro bono, did you?” “I did.” “But you were paid by FOX News?” “I had a contract with FOX News that was irrelevant to the autopsy . . . I’m a consultant to speak, to educate people about forensic pathology . . . I heard the family may be have been referred to me by somebody at FOX. But my autopsy had nothing to do with FOX.” “Would you tell us who your assistant was at that autopsy?” “Yes . . . the family asked me to do the autopsy, and they asked that Steph Watts, a producer for FOX, be present.” “Steph Watts is a producer for FOX News?’ “Was a producer for the Greta Van Susterin show.” “Does he have any medical training?” “No.” “He does have experience as one of the producers of Girls Gone Wild?” Objection/Overruled. “I Have no knowledge of that.” “You journeyed to Chicago for this particular case, isn’t that true?” “No . . .” Objection. The question is withdrawn, but the State asks for a sidebar.

In Session The sidebar ends. The witness confirms that producer Steph Watts videotaped the Savio autopsy. “Didn’t Mr. Watts try to peddle that video to Girls Gone Wild?” “That’s the first time I’ve heard that. Obviously, that would be totally improper, if that were done.” The attorneys go to a sidebar.

jury out again.
:bigfight: :rollercoaster:

Oh, c'mon! Again??

If I were a jury member, besides having lost 10 pounds from the walking exercises, for which I would be grateful, I would be mad as a hornet at being sent out about one million times during this trial.

On cross, Lopez asserted the witness was there because "You knew that she was trying to seduce you."

There's an audible gasp from the courtroom that later prompted admonishment from Judge Edward Burmila.

Schori denied Lopez's assertion, repeating that he didn't know what Peterson wanted to tell him but wanted a witness there to maintain propriety.

Thanks. I forgot that. (Should be on the jury since I'm good at forgetting what I shouldn't have heard!)

Baden says that the autopsy he performed [on Savio] "had nothing to do with" his consulting job on FOX news

Meczyk asks about Baden's assistant at autopsy. Baden says family asked that a producer for Fox News be present. #DrewPeterson

"You do know that (producer) tried to sell video of autopsy to the same folks who produce Girls Gone Wild!" Baden didn't know...

Baden talks about Steph Watts, a producer for Greta Van Susterin, who assisted him w/ Savio's autopsy...

Judge: "I think it's a very good thing to expose my ignorance of what 'Girls Gone Wild' is. Steve Greenberg explains. ..

#drewpeterson Watts had no medical training & was also a producer for Girls Gone Wild.

@SeidelContent: Jury's out, and we're arguing about "Girls Gone Wild." #DrewPeterson

Baden says he had a contract w/ Fox 2 educate people about forensic pathology but did the autopsy pro bono.

In Session The sidebar ends. The jurors are excused. Prosecutor Connor confirms that a phone number for Girls Gone Wild was on a note pad belonging to Steph Watts, but asks the defense if there is any evidence that the video was ever peddled. Judge; “I think it’s a very good thing to expose my ignorance of what Girls Gone Wild is.” Greenberg: “It’s a series of interviews on spring break locations . . . they get very drunk women to do embarrassing things . . . I believe Mr. Watts admitted to calling during the autopsy . . .” Connor: “He spoke to him, yes . . . but I don’t think there’s been any evidence that it had anything to do with what he was doing at the time.”

  • #188
judge says he will admonish jury to ignore defense question about "Girls Gone Wild."

  • #189
In Session Greenberg: “Mr. Watts previously testified that he was checking voice mail messages during the autopsy. While he was checking messages, he got a phone call from… the creator of Girls Gone Wild, who was in jail for tax problems . . . he claims it was unrelated.” Judge: “Then I’m going to sustain the State’s objection, and instruct the jury to ignore this evidence.” He sends for the jurors.

judge tells jury not to consider "Girls Gone Wild," but says they can consider producer's presence at autopsy if they want...

I sat thru that 'press conference' this morning too, ended up yelling at the tv.
You are right, they are a collective piece of work. Interrupting, saying the stupidest things. One of them was complaining that someone had come out of the courthouse yesterday and was surrounded by reporters, etc. He was jealous! You could tell by the way he said it. I thought he has room to talk, as often and the 3 of them have been in front of the camera, even solicited reporters to talk to them. Disgusting. GRRRRRRRRRRR

I have a question. What purpose does Lopez' wife serve? She never speaks, she stands behind them looking stupid, always trailing along with them. She's an atty, right? Does she have any part in the trial?

I just can't stand them I think they have slimey tactics and I don't like it at all. When I see them on TV I actually dread having to listen to what they are going to say.

Is anyone else as skeeved out as I am over these :clown:. And I don't mean funny haha clowns, because they have the worst sense of humor, just like Drew.

IMO she's just there to pretty them up. Show a female doesn't need to be afraid of DP. But I agree with your assessment of how she looks though.

I either want to throw something through the tv or find my mouth hanging open after listening to them. Nothing should shock us anymore. Sometimes they still do.

He had to slip that in, eh? This Judge makes my blood boil.

In Session The witness and the jurors return to the courtroom. The judge instructs the jury to disregard the references to Girls Gone Wild. Meczyk continues: “When you performed the autopsy, Mr. Steph Watts from FOX was there, and he was very helpful to you?” “He was helpful; he took notes primarily.” “And he videotaped the autopsy?” “Not the body.” “Know where that videotape is now?” “I assume it’s with FOX News.” “It’s not with the Savio family, is it?” “Not that I’m aware of.”

Yep. Chomping at the bit.

In Session Although Baden has treated people with orthostatic hypotension. It is not, however, his field of expertise. “Did you read the letters or the medical records from Dr. Neri or Dr. Motiani?” “I saw some records that she was dizzy.” “They both opined that she suffered from this condition . . . did you take that into consideration?” Objection. The parties go to a sidebar.

In Session The sidebar ends. But almost immediately, the attorneys go to another one.

In Session The sidebar ends. Judge Burmila: “We’re going to take a very brief recess, so that they can have a conference.” He leaves the bench, and the trial is in recess.

Courtrooms gone wild? Trials gone wild? Jurors gone wild?

They'd have something here if they wanted it. :rocker:

{ So Baden makes all of these powerful rebuttal statements concerning the bruising and the diaphragm and the defensive wounds and the DT counters by accusing them of trying to sell the tape to Girls Gone Wild? :floorlaugh:]

Oh and another thing- still on the subject of that sickening display of idiocracy
(sp) by those 3.5 defense guys this morning....Did you see how fast they broke up the whole thing in the end....when someone asked about Stacy and where she was, they all mumbled "we don't know" and just walked off. They aren't there to answer the 'hard' questions, they are there for the exposure first and for trying to fly ridiculous theories and trash the victim, all in the name of defense of Drew.

have a woman on their team because this is a trial about violence against a woman. She is not a seasoned attorney. She has only been out of law school a couple of years. She also is quite attractive which I suspect they think is a win with male jurors and her gender a plus for female jurors--she is giving the
image of a balanced team.
When I was in the courtroom she was always when the court was in recess--popping something in her mouth. Her Prada tote bag must have cost a fortune and that gives the image of "success" to some people.
So there is my impression of why she is there......

Remember Brodsky's comment in the media that he was surprised Watts didn't help with the autopsy.........that's probably coming next.
