Drew Peterson's Trial *FIRST WEEK*

Imagine the reaction from the DT if the Prosecutor slipped and said Stacy instead of Kathy.

Exactly! I was thinking the same thing! Ha! I hope he slips up more than once and the jury will start questioning who Stacy is. Don't some of these jurors already know about Stacy anyway?

BBM. Whoops, does this open a door to bring more info in regarding Stacy?

Nope. Unfortunately, the Judge ruled no reference to Stacy's disappearance. :furious:

They do, but they are supposed to not involve that knowledge in their analysis and deliberations

Jean Casarez just got a note that the denfense, in asking a question of Kathleen's sister, let it out that Drew supposedly had said that he'd make Kathleen's death look like an "acccident." However, the prosecution had not been allowed to bring in the "accident" part of that quote. So that's a good thing. :woohoo:

Whoo hoo! Where is the high five smiley? So the defense brought in evidence - in front of the jury - which they previously fought to have inadmissable. Was this in front of the jury??? if so......

Fan-fricken-tastic! :D

Please tell me the jury heard this :please:

BBM. Catching up again. "it was open" I wish they would specify what was open. Was it the Car open or the brief case open? My first impression was the breif case was open, but then maybe she meant the car was unlocked or open.

Me too. I hadn't reconciled that remark yet. This makes sense and I bet you're right that AD meant the SUV was unlocked so she
was able to access the briefcase easily. I think, even if the briefcase was locked, she would still remove it from the SUV and take it
with her as her sister had asked her to do so why would she even check to see if it was locked or not?
I'm satisfied that she meant the SUV was 'open' or unlocked.

I'm not sure why AD changed the order of her actions regarding when she grabbed the briefcase and put it in her car though.
Today while she testified, I wondered why she waited until she was ready to leave before she (her sister reminded her?)
went to look for the briefcase.
It makes more sense to me, that that was the first thing she would do (as she testified to in a Grand Jury?) :waitasec:

I think it's a good day for the prosecution so far!!!

Yes, it was in front of the jury.

Judge White on IS is saying that unless Joe Lopez has some reason for saying that, it must have been a slip up.

The prosecution, then, got to use it in their re-direct and, in fact, closed the morning session with it.

Says,(re court adjourning) "If a cough ever helped anyone, it just helped the State."

IS: Judge has adjourned court for the day because of the sick, coughing juror.

He doesn't want other jurors to get sick. Court resumes Tuesday.

Glen Marshal tweets court in recess until Tuesday because of the coughing juror

I agree! I thought judges were supposed to be neutral but for him to smack down the witness like she is being coerced by the prosecution is disgusting!!!! If this guy is an elected judge I hope people in his district are taking note!!!!!!!! I am furious!

The Judge said that about not looking to the State for guidance?
Oh my, I thought it was the Defense Attorney who said that. Guess I'd better take a few minutes to figure out who's who.
Thanks for pointing this out.

In Session Lopez begins his redirect. Once again, the witness concedes that she had not seen her nephews after the funeral. “You didn’t even send them a Christmas card?” “ No.”

In Session “How many shows have you been on?” “What show . . . I wasn’t quite sure what show he was talking about.” “You went on TV, didn’t you?” One of the jurors is once again having a coughing fit, so the judge asks the jury to leave the courtroom. He also excuses the witness. “We’ll be in recess for five minutes.”

Why do situations always have to get/seem weird? imo. Geesh!

Just a few more.....

In Session Judge Burmila has returned to the bench. The jurors and witness have also returned to the courtroom., and Mr. Lopez resumes his recross examination. “You appeared on Greta Van Susteren that day, didn’t you?” “I’m not sure it was that day, but, yes, I did.” “Wasn’t it during this conversation with Greta that you asked for a second autopsy . . . or was that her suggestion?” “I can’t remember whose idea it was at first.” “You were aware that FOX paid for it?’ “I was under the assumption that Dr. Baden did it pro bono . . . if they [FOX] paid for it, I’m unaware of it.” “Did you know he was paid $50,000 for that autopsy?” Objection/Sustained.

In Session At the time, this witness worked for the village of Romeoville. “You knew a lot of police officers, didn’t you?” “Not really.” “You never consulted with any of them, did you, about the information you had about this threat to your sister?” “Not that I remember.” “In fact, you consulted an attorney with regard to the items you found in the briefcase?” Objection/Overruled. “Yes.” “You didn’t tell that attorney about this threat, did you?” “I don’t remember if I did or not.

Gosh reading what is happening is so different than watching....the cough fit reads HINKY to me. LOL

Me too, kind of. Though we did have a weather alert for poor air quality for today. It's possible the coughing fit is relative to the poor air quality alert.

Guess Doman didn't approve of the Judges comments to her earlier...

In Session The witness repeats that she originally thought Greta Van Susteren was a friend of Sharon Bychowski’s. “They put a microphone on you, so you could be on the show?” “Later.” “She asked you to appear on the show?” “Later on, yeah.” The witness then identifies a copy of Kathleen Savio’s death certificate. “On this certificate, above your name . . .” Objection/Overruled. “It says the informant is Anna Marie Doman?” “Yes.” “And it says the cause of death is drowning, and it was an accident?” “That’s what the document says.” Objection/Overruled (Judge: “The document speaks for itself.”). The witness then states, “The document speaks for itself,” which prompts laughter in the courtroom, but obviously displeases Judge Burmila, who sharply warns Doman, “Ma’am, don’t mock the Court again!” Doman: “Oh, I’m sorry.”

In Session The witness denies that she ever called the FBI about her sister (but apparently someone else in her family did). “You didn’t tell the police about that, did you?” “I don’t remember.” “And that day was the first day you told the police about the briefcase?” “I don’t remember . . .I don’t remember if I brought it with me or not; I don’t think I did.” “Your sister told you that no matter what happens you should grab this case because she had everything in there?” “That it was important . . . I didn’t forget about it; it just wasn’t the first thing on my mind [when she went to the house].” The recross is now concluded.

So a member of the Defense slipped and said Stacy instead of Kathleen?
See, there is a God.

In Session Judge Burmila addresses the jury: “Obviously, one of your members has been sick . . . I’m concerned, since everybody is in a confined room, I don’t want anybody else to get sick. So I’ve made a decision and we’re going to recess today. That will give this particular individual a chance to get better. We’ll see you all here first thing Tuesday morning.”
