Wow, you just can't even go to the loo during this trial!!! At least it wasn't having anything to do with the PT -- but somehow the DT will make it so for their street conversations.....

This was supposed to start one and a half hours ago. No testimony yet.

  • #804
In Session The parties are heading back into the courtroom. We should be resuming shortly.

  • #805
I am getting a feeling that this "judge" is not going to let this testimony in.

  • #806
I won't be able to continue if they throw this out. This is VERY important

I am getting a feeling that this "judge" is not going to let this testimony in.

Watch this thread for live updates from the Drew Peterson murder trial!

Judge Burmila is back on the bench. “The transcript of July 18 has been provided to the Court… it’s exactly as I remembered; I was advised by the State that the defendant told her to lie to the police. And now this morning, I am informed by the State that that is not the case… so with that as our starting point, where are we with the request from the State that I evaluate Rev. Schori’s testimony in light of what I was told previously.” Prosecutor Griffin responds: “This was referred to over and over again before Judge White and Your Honor as ‘the lie request’…” Judge: “Where are we at, then? I’ve made a ruling that he cannot say she said this was going to be the perfect crime… you know, and you have known, that the lynchpin is inadmissible. So what is it you’re asking me to do this morning?” Griffin: “I guess we’re just asking the Court to reconsider…” Judge:“You’re asking me to admit a statement she made to Rev. Schori that she fulfilled the defendant’s wish?” Griffin:“Yes, without getting into the actual statement that she made to the police.”

Well, I keep going and looking at other threads...this trial should be titled "The laze of our days"! I just see so many involved, including this judge, that keep playing court! Like we will go thru the motions, but this will be the outcome, not guilty. That makes me want to pull my eyeballs out of their sockets and blindly go thru life feeling the blue wall wins. Every time.

someone on InSession FB referred to things that the boyfriend was not allowed to say....does anyone know what she is referring to?

In Session Brodsky responds to the State’s argument. “I think the major problem is that statement, whatever it may be, from Stacy Peterson is not in evidence. I guess what the State’s asking to do is talk about something without having the statement before the jury…in any event, as you said, the statement here is very specific…that she uttered the word ‘lie’ isn’t really very clear. If the portion of the statement they can get in doesn’t make sense, we can’t make up a fictional statement to make sense. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t; that’s their problem, I guess.” Greenberg joins the defense argument: “There’s no such statement before the jury…there has to be some predicate for the statement, and I don’t know what the basis would be for Stacy saying, ‘I lied to the police’…I don’t know what the basis would be for that statement.” Judge: “Unfortunately, we’re at another instance where the State has made one representation one day, another the second day, and a third when the witness is about to hit the stand…however, I don’t think that I have to revisit my ruling. The statement as to the perfect crime is privileged, and it’s inadmissible . . . I understand the defense objection, but the statement that she did carry out his wishes is going to be admissible.”

NOPE. He changed his sunny attitude and blew up shortly after taking the bench. As of right now, he is brooding and steaming in his chambers...

Yep -- I spoke way-y-y-yy too soon. I promise, I won't do it again... I guess the judge looked at his own nameplate & remembered who he was..... same old, same old.....

Yes, this testimony is HUGE. Please, at least enuff to help the jurors see it as it is, and was....

judge says Schori can tell jury that Drew coached her on her police statement and she carried out his wishes.

the judge will allow state to present that #DrewPeterson advised Stacy to lie to police for him, and that she did.

The closing is going to be extremely important for the PT to pull everything together and present it clearly to the jury that DP murdered KS and was the only one who had motive to do so.

RBBM: I agree ... and for the PT to do this, they need to read here at WS :rocker:

Y'all had a good catch yesterday with the Orange Juice testimony from the neighbor's son ...

I sure hope this was NOT lost on the Pros Team ...

Back to catching up ...

:great::great::great:

Let's celebrate the little victories. Maybe this is enough for the jury to get the picture.

Burmila asking for transcript from pior motion argument on exactly what his ruling was. Court on break until then ...

Glasgow claims that “my hands are tied,” based on the judge’s prior rulings.

Brodsky and Glasgow continue to argue over the exact terminology that Schori will be able to say.
judge left bench, demanding transcript of pre-trial hearing so he can see exactly what prosecution told him. Stand by...

:rollercoaster:

BBM
This is what kills me. The witness is THE ONLY ONE who heard what Stacy said to him and yet others (Judge, DT, PT) are deciding what words he can/can't use. Yeah, I get probative vs prejudicial. Just wish common sense was thrown in with the two p's for fun.

I can't figure him out.
I've never ever seen this in a trial before.

There's a lot in this trial I've never seen before!!!!

At least we get a little something. I can not stand this "judge"!!!
