Drew Peterson's Trial *THIRD WEEK*

Haven't caught up with all of today's posts yet, so someone may have already mentioned this. Someone on IS said earlier (it might have been a caller or a facebook post, don't remember) that it was curious that Kathleen was fearful enough to put the deadbolt on her bedroom door but yet it wasn't found locked when they found her body in the tub. Especially when there were previous incidents when she was surprised by DP appearing in her home.

Especially when she would be in a most vulnerable position soaking in a bathtub. It doesn't quite add up, does it? It also brings to mind another question - did she engage the lock while sleeping at night immediately before her death? Would anyone know?

Blum testifying about photos of Savio bruises. Meczyk pushes him. "Is it new or is it old?" Blum: "It's a very fresh bruise."

Blum: Savio's manner of death was a homicide..

"It's my opinion that it did not occur from a fall" Blum on Savio's head wound #DrewPeterson

Hello, all, this is my first post at WS.

As someone who has attended the trial a few times and also being a local resident, I must say I do not like how it's going for the prosecution.

For one, they have a judge with a pretty obvious dislike for them. I can't help but think that the jury is going to feed off that.

Secondly, they have made some pretty big mistakes that will hurt what is already an uphill battle.

I must say I got chills when DP turned to the gallery during a recess and looked at me for a second. I looked the other way as it was very un-nerving to think that a possible murderer is looking at you.

:wagon: Hello and Welcome !

Question : What can you tell us about the jury ? Any "feel" about them ?

Were they interested -- disinterested ? Taking notes ?

TIA !

In Session The sidebar ends, and the witness is shown a slide. “There’s no evidence of red blood cells, right?” “The report shows multiple areas of dark pigmentation . . . so, no, I did not see any loose red blood cells.” Objection/Sustained. “I saw some intact red blood cells, but there wasn’t a bruise there.” “That big nice and fresh bruise that you called it . . .” “Three bruises, I called it . . . three and a half years after burial, the three bruises had coalesced into a single area.” “That bruise is about a week old, isn’t it?” “This bruise when I looked at it was over three years old.” “No, no . . . if you had to date that bruise, how old is it?” “That tissue was embalmed.” Objection/Overruled. “You opined yesterday that this was a fresh bruise. Are you now taking back that that is a fresh bruise?” “The tissue that it came from represents what a three and a half year old bruise looks like after decomposition and embalming. Yes, that’s a bruise.” ‘Is that an old bruise or a fresh bruise? Is it new or is it old?” “Yes, it’s a very fresh bruise.” The witness then points out “a decomposition coloring . . . it’s an artifact, basically . . . it’s a common artifact; even with tissue that hasn’t been embalmed, if it sits long enough it can show up like that. So that’s my opinion . . . it is not hemosiderin, in my opinion.”

This is the judge's order that I was talking about before.

And there was also an objection that was sustained when the PT asked Blum about the position of KS's feet in the tub. Why weren't they allowed to ask about that???

Thanks for the welcome(s) to all.

Some were taking notes, most have been looking on with serious expressions. The majority are middle aged and from what I remember, nine are white and three are black.

I do remember them laughing quite a bit at Greenberg when he was trying to be funny early on in the trial. That's another reason I feel that the prosecution is going to really have to close strong to have any chance here.

Interesting. This little story shows us that this judge is plugged into what social media is saying about the trial, imo.

Yeah, as if his 'friends' heard him say he was going to blow his brains out and so out of concern they...send emails. Oh-kaaaaaaaaaaaaay.:waitasec:

:seeya: Thank You for this update ...

Ugh ... the incident with Greenberg reminds me of the Pinellas 12, who seemed to enjoy Jose's stale jokes ...

Ugh ...

One thing that has stuck with me is DP's calm demeanor during the trial. IMO, it's as if he KNOWS he going to win the case.

Not that I'd ever want to do put myself in his nasty shoes, but if I were DP, I'd feel pretty confident, too. He knows that even if the jury believes KS was indeed murdered, can they convict ME of doing it? He knows the states case is based on words of others and the judge has clearly shown a bias for the defense.

Logically, if I were him, I'd be very concerned. However, beyond a reasonable doubt, I would think the jury could not convict me.

Not sure who would know - she might not have deadbolted the bedroom if/when the boyfriend was over because of feeling safer with him there.

But wasn't the front door deadbolt also found not bolted? Why bother installing deadbolts on TWO doors and then not use either one?

Laughing at or with? I'm not sure laughter is a good sign. I find nothing about the DT antics amusing.

I don't have a psycho ex husband, thank goodness. And I live on a very 'safe' suburban cul-de-sac. But even so, when I am all alone for the night, and am undressing for a bath, I lock my front door and use the dead bolt.

I cannot imagine that she would not have done so that night herself. Especially with an ex who was abusive and threatening.

With. IIRC, he asked a few questions two weeks ago to the paramedic that was first on the scene regarding the type of bath mat that he would use at his home and it got laughs/smiles from a few of the jury members and court spectators.

Recess is over, Meczyk back on cross with Dr. Blum

Meczyk "Your honor, I kind of feel like Pinnochio and Gipetto." continues to go over Blum's report and testimony from today.

No male DNA was identified in fingernail testing of Savio #DrewPeterson

Cross portion of Blum's testimony has been very technical, I am told the jury is paying very close attention.

Majority of #drewpeterson jurors dressed in blue. Def atty Lopez thinks it's an homage to matching blue shirts he & wife Lisa wore yesterday.[ WTH?]

Blum says scratches on Savio arm could of come from her pet cat

atty Meczyk calls Blum's reason for not testing iron in Savio tissue a "lame" excuse. Judge quickly strikes remark from record

Just the antics I'm thinking of. Apparently Mr. & Mrs. Shark think of themselves as rock stars. :puke:

Meczyk says Savio told doctor she had allergic, sensitive skin, has been breaking out since childhood and had scars.

[ so? Did any of the MEs say anything about her skin 'breaking out?' ]

Yes, I believe it was also unlocked. Just thinking perhaps she would have told family members or friends what she would do when home alone.

:)

Thinking back on it....Another snakey Peterson made family members suspicious when instead of calling around to see if anyone knew where his wife was, he made the crucial mistake of calling his mother-in-law and saying..."Laci is missing!" Normally most people (unless the already know where someone is cuz they killed them) will make several calls to friends, family, boyfriends, etc. and say "Hey I've got the kids...she was supposed to get them...yada, yada, yada...do you know where she is? Tell her to call ASAP" Human nature usually dictates in most normal circumstances that we seek out the simplest least threatening scenario when the whereabouts of a loved one is in question. Kinda seems like DP knew what was going to be found when he got neighbors, a locksmith, and police to meet him at the house. Also questionable that he would hang back casually chatting with the locksmith. If I had gotten to the point of panic to involve all of those people for a welfare check on my loved one I would get in the door as fast as I could going all over the house yelling that family member's name until I found them..Thats just me..What about the rest of you guys?

BBM. I agree without a doubt Drew knew what was going to be found..... however the police are not included in the group that was called to meet and found Kathleen. The police were not called until after Kathleen was discovered deceased in the bathtub.
