Drew Peterson's Trial *THIRD WEEK*

How upsetting this is! The prosecution has really messed up this case. The judge is so biased against the pros that it's unbelievable! I'm beginning to wonder if justice for Kathleen is possible?

I think there are mistakes in every case, but this judge is blowing them out of proportion.
They've had a hearsay hearing, yet much of that seems to be thrown out the window. It's no wonder some things are getting screwed up.
The DT is simply trying to disrupt the Prosecution's flow and the judge is letting them .
There was a trial recently , that was so impressive ,just watching a judge that didn't become part of the drama, kept things moving, always told the jury not infer blame to either side when they had to leave the courtroom. He would tell them to be mad at him ,not either side.He never showed emotion, frustration or anger.

I'll have to go find it .

ETA Maybe the Tammi Smith trial ? The Adam Kaufman trial had a female judge (she was also very good) .

Ok,if she gets off ,I'll settle for him marrying AS,but he has a thing for younger woman. It would be kinda funny ,in a pathetic way. They'd both be so paranoid ,even as they plot the other's demise.

Sorry for getting OT .Just need some comic relief.

Well AS is only in her 30's, IIRC. Would be interesting to see who off's who first. And to know what the clever plot was, afterwards.

To see who would be "The Last One Standing". LOL.

Stacy was 17 .Even Casey A might be too old for Drew. Either would be interesting. :floorlaugh:

Continuing...but FCA always did like men with badges, and her fantasy man does have money, so I vote FCA and Drew.

This is really sickening. The Pros. was never prepared to try this case. WTF is the matter with them. just sickening.

Do you know any producers? It sounds like a good idea for a reality show. "The Last One Standing". And after one offs the other, maybe a new match could be made.

I think one of the problems is there are so many hands in this pot. How many state's attorneys are trying this case? I sense some disorganization, a bit of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing, ball dropping, assumption-making, and some game playing all around, not just on the state's side. Also the fact that one judge litigated pre-trial motions for a couple years and a different judge is trying the case.

If it wasn't clear to the state's team before it should have been by the end of the first week: this judge will not let them slide and will use any mistake, error or opportunity he can to bar witnesses and strike testimony. Fair or not, the state has to be practically perfect in their discovery, wording and everything, or suffer the consequences of hiz honor.

In most trials I have watched, the prosecution has appeared to be much more prepared than this team seems. Mistakes, errors, weak in case law, doesn't even seem to know the case well. I understand the complaints about the judge. But other than allowing so many delays, lateness and being a general pain he does seem to be doing his job pretty much. Always a judge will try to judge on merit, but if there is any doubt he will rule in favor of the defense. So that isn't surprising to me (though there have been a couple of rulings that raised my eyebrows.) But the pros team, now they have me shaking my head.

Defense team may make me angry. But they don't surprise me, I kinda expect they will do all they can to confuse, get evidence thrown out and generally wreak havoc on a case in any means possible.

I wonder if the prosecution team has realized that if they lose this case, they will bankrupt their own county? DrewP has been held in jail for years. If he wins, it is likely that he will try to sue the county/state for his time in jail, job loss and anything else he can think of.

Chicago Sun Times: http://www.suntimes.com/news/14547609-418/drew-peterson-testimony-focusing-on-savios-health.html

I didn't know before reading this that Scott Rossetto is a US Army Captain and that he traveled all
the way from Germany to testify.
The precise dates don't matter at this point.....he is speaking of a general time frame. The information that he has is vitally important and he would have no motive other than doing what is right to come forth.

I heard on the radio (Newsradio 780 WBBM) that Scott was quoted as saying that without his testimony that Stacy's secret will die along with her.

This is just WRONG. This is a gross miscarriage of justice that really should go to a higher authority. I don't think that confusion over dates should have barred his testimony.
My fellow WS crew........I am truly disgusted and angry. That smug murderous piece of dung could walk while two beautiful women lay rotting. This is an outrage!!!!!!!!!!

In most trials I have watched, the prosecution has appeared to be much more prepared than this team seems.

Since I'm not able to see the trial either through video or live I don't have a sense of anything going on in the courtroom, except what comes out of twitter or articles. I don't have cable so I don't watch IS either. How many prosecutors/assistants are on the team? Glasgow + ???

Could they file a motion to have Scott testify still?
They have THREE days before we reconvene. It would seem to me that they should consult some top notch attorneys for assistance because clearly they don't know what they are doing. We need some help here. This is messed up!

I think that Judge Burmilla has shown himself to be a cantankerous fart who blows up at the slightest provocation. He even got his undies in a bundle when people in the gallery laughed at Kathleen's sister when she repeated a phrase that was being used.
This judgement really shows a rigidity as well as an impulsivity on his part......exact dates after all these years for the love of God?!?! Scott was trying to pinpoint something in his mind....it is the general time frame that matters.
I really need to go take a chill pill folks, because this has really gotten me fired up.
Scott wasn't some hare brained flakey loser.....he is a reputable person who has VERY important testimony that could put away a killer!

Unfortunately he doesn't hold the DEFENSE to the same standards if decorum as the PT and even the victim's family! Drew and company are allowed to get away with murder, literally, in his courtroom. I really hope the SA office is investigating and taking notes of his behavior.

How does a judge get replaced? He is so bias.
Please pray that DP is found guilty and justice is served for both wives.
And whoever else he may of killed. Imo

BBM: IIRC, I read that this judge was appointed and NOT elected ...

I am hoping that a local may know the answer to your question as I am not familiar with Illinois' judicial system ...

Not to go off topic here -- just giving an example of how some judges got replaced down here :

In the "land of corruption" here in Louisiana, there have been quite a few investigations recently into "corruption" by the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office -- and ONE investigation was into the "corrupt courthouse" in Jefferson Parish [the parish next to New Orleans].

It was dubbed "Operation Wrinkled Robe", in which several judges were investigated by FBI and US Attorney's Office ...

These corrupt judges were investigated for judicial misconduct, ethics violations, etc. ... and finally, they were removed ... a couple of these judges were jailed ... one was removed and sanctioned by the Louisiana Supreme Court ...

Again, sorry for the Off Topic ... but sometimes, judges ARE investigated and the bad ones are removed for judicial and ethical violations ...

So an invsetigation into corruption can happen ... does not happen often ... but it can happen ...

JMO, but this case warrants some sort of investigation ...

:please: I am still hoping and praying that there will be some sort of justice in this case ... but unfortunately, it is not looking good ...

:moo:

I am just sick about today...and also, the way Burmila is handling his courtroom. Something is really wrong here.

I remember when Burmila was assigned to this trial, that the defense team said that they were pleased that he was going to be the judge. I have to wonder if something untoward is going on behind all this carp.

The defense team is slimey. During lunch Brodsky says he is not concerned with Rossetto's testimony. Sooo, if you're not concerned, why is Greenberg asking the witness to be removed from giving testimony because of a date error?

They're pathetic! But I must also say that the prosecutution has had far too many blunders this entire case.

I think the defense is sandbagging. At least that is the impression I'm getting....

....still catching up reading.

I'm at a loss for words.

I'm not. Glasgow isn't going to win the election. His loss will be remembered along the lines of Bill Buckner's play at 1st which cost the Red Sox the world series.

Inexcusable mistakes being made by the prosecution. It's bad when they can't nail down the basics and that's what is happening here.
