Drew Peterson's Trial *THIRD WEEK*

I don't understand why a trial of this magnitude is not being televised? The Supreme Court made a decision to try cameras in the courtroom in Illinois on an experimental basis? IMO this would be the trial to experiment on. It's very hard to read the scrolls and see the cartoon sketches. This is just so 1980's.

Welcome to NE, IL? Oddly, Chicagoland is an area where things are done because that's the way they have always been done - and change comes very very slowly. It doesn't surprise me at all that Chicagoland would be 100 years behind the times with the way LE and the judicial system does things.

The prosecution knows how important this case is and they have had so very much time to prepare for it. There is simply no excuse whatsoever for the kind of amateur mistakes they are making.

This has been the most screwed up trial I have ever seen.

In Session During this recess, the defendant and most of the defense attorneys are staying inside the courtroom. The prosecution team gathered down at the opposite end of the hallway – except for Kathy Patton, who I just saw alone in the courtroom next door. Just a moment ago, the rest of the prosecution team entered the same room and joined her.

And they were going so well today too. That's a completely stupid error for the prosecutors to make.

Agree, completely stupid, totally unnecessary and potentially very costly. Mistrial or strike the witness testimony? At this point, almost would want a mistrial - with the ability to retry him when and if they get their act together. At least he wouldn't yet be acquitted which is the direction the case is headed at this point.

:maddening:

It is also the land of payoffs.

Who's paying off this pros??? She cannot be this damn stupid can she?

I have NO confidence that they can get it together, ever. They arrested him in 2009, wrote a new law to get him to trial, and still they cannot follow orders.

They seem to be doing this deliberately.

Which will piss me off to see the sunglasses win.

So, any predictions about what the judge is going to do?

I cannot believe, or don't want to believe, that he will dismiss the case with prejudice. I really do not think the judge wants to be the one to let this monster walk away a free man forever.

But he might dismiss without prejudice. But that is so expensive for the state, and they have already put on a lot of the states case and spent a lot of $.

But the judge sure did seem pissed off. Which is weird, because it is not that big of a deal, imo.

That what I think. It's not that big a deal. But, maybe I'm missing something.

Its not their first mistake, and also the judge specifically told them two hours ago. Any judge would be fuming at such a blatant breach of a court order, note that in the sidebar he pointed out that he could have her up for contempt of court if he wanted.

And ironically, it isn't even that big a deal in terms of doing any damage to the defense. A completely stupid, unnecessary thing to do.

It has crossed my mind that they might be doing this deliberately just to be able to arrest him for Stacy.

But who knows.

That would be prosecutorial misconduct, wouldn't it?

I wonder who assigned these idiots to the case. If it was me, I would give this case my best litigators, not a bunch of diaper-wearing 'lawyers'

Honestly I am expecting the defense to argue that even if the witness testimony is stricken the jury has already heard it.....even though they shouldn't consider it during deliberations. The only thing in favor for the defense was DP allegedly saying he wouldn't kill Kathleen.

However, I imagine the defense does want a mistrial.......with prejudice. The horror of that thought, although the State has no one to blame but themselves if it happens.

I think you may have something there!
Something is wrong. Does Patton have a split personality and switches with her 'other side'? I am only half joking.

A payoff is not so far fetched either.

My stomach is in knots!

If the letter Kathy wrote is out, the case goes with it. It is the only piece of evidence that is not hearsay. omg these morons.

This judge seems to really really dislike this particular attorney. Patton.

He is always bullying her and being aggressive and argumentative. He seems to be that way with some of the women witnesses as well. I think he is kind of a :snake:
