Driver is saved by a real-life Lassie

A stray alsatian saved the life of a woman badly injured in a car crash.

Shannon Lorio's car careered down an embankment, tossing her through the rear window and leaving her sprawled, cut and bleeding, on the boot.

Suddenly the dog - since named Hero - appeared and dragged her 50 yards through undergrowth to the road.

Then he let Miss Lorio, 36, lean against him so she could stand up and flag down a passing motorist.
